The Flash season 4, episode 4 synopsis: Elongated Journey Into Night
Comic book fans haven’t seen too many of the traditional best buddies of the Fastest Man Alive yet on The Flash. Green Lantern hasn’t popped up despite multiple references to Hal Jordan. But arguably the second-best superhero friend to the Flash is finally arriving this week in the form of the Elongated Man.
Only it doesn’t appear that Ralph Dibny is going to be a good guy right off the bat. The description of this week’s new episode of The Flash describes Ralph as an “old nemesis” for Barry, which makes one wonder if he’s a work rival or perhaps a petty thief of some sort.
While we ponder a different status quo for the Stretchable Sleuth, there’s also the ongoing Cisco Ramon/Gypsy subplot to consider. The show is about to welcome the always awesome Danny Trejo as Gypsy’s dad, and it doesn’t sound like he’s such a big Vibe fan.
“Cisco is shocked when Gypsy’s (guest star Jessica Camacho) father, Breacher (guest star Danny Trejo), shows up on Earth-1. Breacher takes an immediate disliking to Cisco and decides to hunt him. Meanwhile, Barry runs into his old nemesis, Ralph Dibny (guest star Hartley Sawyer).”
Of course, the easy prediction here is that based on what we learned last week, Ralph got the stretching powers we already know he’s destined to have as one of the bus passengers affected by the dark matter that Barry unknowingly hauled back with him from the Speed Force. That would put him on the side opposite the angels, one would think, but maybe he’ll be a rogue (no pun intended) with a heart of gold
