I'm going to be slightly upset if the GoT books aren't finished! XD
I was reading Wheel of Time at one stage but got to a stage (can't remember which book it was, somewhere in the middle, there's a lot x_x) where I kind of had no idea what was going on and couldn't re-engage with the characters :<
Yeah Jordan got a bit wordy and over complicated in the middle. But I am glad that he spent the time putting notes together for Brandon Sanderson to finish it. I'm up to book 10 and its just starting to get a bit better - 6-9 were pretty bad! Apparently Sanderson's are better than the originals.
I have to say I'm a bit worried about GoT getting finished. Neil Gaiman - (American Gods) keeps telling everyone to take a chill pill that GRR Martin is not our bitch lol! I do think if an author starts a story like that though he does have an obligation to his fans to see it through - just out of respect more than anything else! Plus it's not like hes a few weeks behind either! They've been overdue since book 3. The speculation is he's a fair age now, he's bored with the story and he has writers block and doesn't know how to end it. Maybe he can follow whatever the show does! I think a lot of fans have just given up and will be happy with however the show ends it.. I am fast approaching that category and while they left out a favourite story line with Lady Stoneheart I am pretty happy overall. While I'd like the books to end properly.. I can live with it because of the TV series :)
