From Wannapreneurs to Entrepreneurs
Hello, my name is Humberto Quintanilla, and I am an inveterate socio-economic entrepreneur, believer of Bitcoin and fan of Tesla.
“Disruptive ideas” and “the uber of….” Haven't we heard this so many times before ? People who assume their ideas are the next big unicorn, and that's exactly the problem. Here I present 9 steps to remove those assumptions, and transcend to real entrepreneurship. From wannapreneurs to entrepeneurs.
Steps
1.What is your passion, and what are you doing about it?
Be true to yourself ... what is that you wish you’d be doing right now. In my case I wish to become a citizen of the world, travelling without borders or limits, empowering people to launch their ideas and projects. And what the hell, I’d like to have my own rock band, and drive sports cars professionally.
2.Do you know what you want? Set it down to reality
Put on paper or a mental map that which is most critical to realize. Now you have a clearer image make a massive depuration to eliminate unnecessary or obsolete steps.
3. Set down a hobby and explore monetizing it
If you're good at something, and you enjoy, it’ll be easy for you to repeat. Repetition is the key to the success or failure of your project. If you do it well and position it in the right way, place and with the right people, you’ll manage to monetize.
4. Wannapreneur
Do not be a Wannapreneur. Refute some misconceptions or myths like the fact that in a startup you can thrive going solo. Get yourself at least one co-founder who blindly believes in you and in the project. One who believes even more than you do.
5. Short term achievable goals
Real daily or weekly goals. Maximum 5 goals per day, no matter how big or small... put in quantity, quality and resilience and you’ll see how far you can go.
6. Develop your business plan.
Instead of "What? How? Why?” Change your perspective and reverse your questions. You’ll get your first followers this way. Start with Why? How? What? Best example of the power of these questions: Apple. Click here for a quick explainer video of this concept.
7. Become an expert in storytelling
Storytelling is how to tell your project as if it were a story of heroes and villains. The key parts of the story are the hero, the villain and the golden bridge. You are the good and the bad is the problem to be solved, the golden bridge is action or situation that resolves the issue. With a good story you will convince many people to invest their attention, time and money on you. Great storytellers empower and push people forward.
8. Support your first followers, nurture and make them part of your movement
The first likes on your page. People who seek you out of curiosity. They are your first followers and give them the care they deserve! If you do well you can reach more people, and these, in turn, will recommend what you do without you even ask. 9. The lumberjack sharpening his saw
After using the tool to cut without rest, his saw loses his sharpness and fails to work effectively. So… lumberjacks take breaks and sharpen your saw. The most important tool we have is ourselves and our sanity. We have to take recurrent breaks and ensure the most important aspects in our life: the physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual. Overall our brain is focused for 90 minutes and you need 20 minutes of rest.
