Mindset Shift: The Differences Between Full-Time Employment vs. Entrepreneurship
So, you want to be an entrepreneur? While being your own boss is a dream for many and certainly sounds nice in theory, it can require a lot more work than many expect in reality. I’ve built my brand from the ground up and am now a leader in the marketing industry. While "Douglas James" is now a recognized name, becoming a successful entrepreneur wasn’t easy and took a lot of mental and physical strength to work towards bettering my mission every day.
I have become the "High-Ticket Marketing Expert" through my ability to work and help other entrepreneurs every day. While my goal is to help entrepreneurs in a variety of ways, that doesn’t mean that I'll do all of the work for you. Rather, I work hard to provide you with the resources through my knowledge and network. One of the most common questions that I get is how I taught myself to have an entrepreneur outlook. I’m here to extend my knowledge to you about the mindset shift and the difference between full-time employment vs. entrepreneurship.
Nine-To-Five or Nine-To-Whenever
Burning the midnight oil was a phrase that I think was specifically reserved for entrepreneurs. That’s because the nine-to-five you are used to simply isn’t a reality for a successful entrepreneur as business truly never sleeps. As your venture’s main resource, it’s important that you’re working toward it as often as possible. This often means late nights, early mornings, and long days in front of your email, in meetings, and on conference calls.
Success Is A Journey, Not A Destination
While you might currently quantify success as finishing all of your projects, meeting a performance goal, or completing a sale, success isn’t quite so easy to reach for an entrepreneur. The success when you’re the leading member of a new venture is a journey, not a destination. That means that while you should be setting, meeting, and exceeding goals every day, there is truly no rest time as you build and maintain your brand’s success. The minute you view yourself as having met your goal, is the moment that your venture fails to improve. Learn more about my entrepreneurial journey here.
Find Comfort in Inconsistency
There is comfort in consistency. While this consistency is also the same thing that makes many want to run from their office buildings, knowing what our day looks like and how much is in our paycheck at the end of the week is something that many take for granted. It’s important to know that entrepreneurship doesn’t automatically mean more money in your pocket – oftentimes, it means the exact opposite. Likewise, the road to success is a neverending, difficult one that will mean ups… and downs.
