Zero Waste Life

I watched a video about 'zero waste lifestyle' on TED. I think I know what it's like but actually I have no idea about this idea. Lauren Singer, the speaker, says she is super interested in environmental conservation. She has been influenced by taking a class at NYU and watching a girl who waste plastic without even no thinking about that. At first, she made a decision to stop using plastic stuff in order to do something for our planet after she noticed every single thing she had turned out to be plastic things. But quitting plastic is not so easy of a thing for her. It sounds so crazy because most of things in our life is packaged in plastic. Not to mention toothbrush and toothpaste we use every day. I was getting more into her story. More surprisingly, she decided to live 'zero waste life'. According to her, the conception of 'zero waste' is no sending anything to landfill, into trash cans and on the ground. One day she came across a blog called 'Zero Waste Life' and that's when she made up her mind to live a 'trash-free' life. As you know, it's pretty challenging not to produce any trash in life. How could she possibly live with no trash?

Here're the things she does. The first thing she started is stop buying package food. She gets only package-free items. The second thing is she started making on her own her products. One of the stuff is her toothpaste made with baking soda. The third one is shop second-hand products. And the last is she lives downsized lifestyle. That's the process she's got through. Since she decided to live zero waste lifestyle, she's been taking much care of environment. And the good thing about this lifestyle is she's getting happier. Of course, it takes inconvenience in life. But she's willing to keep this lifestyle because she's aware that waste is a big problem.

Honestly, I'm afraid that I could live without any waste. I still do waste some resources in life and I know it's not easy to stop using even only plastic. I have to care so much about things. I don't think I could do well about this. But her story is inspiring enough to think again about the problem we've been having for a long time. The first thing we could do is look well at our and understand what it is. It's going to be a big step for our planet.
