📊 MASDACS.io Beta Testing BOUNTY #2 - Posting to Medium [BeyondBits Rewards Inside]

MASDACS-BETA-BOUNTY-2.jpg

🌟 We would like to thank everyone who took the time to test MASDACS.io and provide your feedback to help us improve the service. Our dev team has been hard at work adding in new features such as drag/drop and file selection for image uploading, as well as a few minor updates to the posting options.

The team will be going over the comments and suggestions given in the first bounty and we will be rewarding the most helpful suggestions.

We Still Need Your Help

At this time we would like to extend a second bounty to primarily test the posting ability to Medium. We want to make sure the platform generates properly formatted posts on Medium and need your help to test this. If you don't already have an account on Medium, set one up, then try using MASDACS.io to cross post to both Medium and Steemit at the same time.

What is MASDACS?

For those who don't know, Mutual Aid Society (MAS) Decentralized Autonomous Communities (DACS), MASDACS is where all your favorite platforms out there such as Steemit, Golos and Medium meet in one central publishing hub.

And it won't stop there... we will be connecting up with MANY more in the coming months!

Imagine the Possibilities

At first you may find this to be an overwhelming proposition, keeping track of so many different accounts to post on multiple platforms, but it's no different than what everyone already does with current 'non-paying' centralized social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. The upside will be well worth the effort.

You will have genre-specific communities popping up that will allow you to share your content with people you know will accept what you create with open arms and reward you fairly for your efforts and contributions. This will help lower the level of hostility and content censorship you have with a single platform scenario like we have now. Imagine posting your content on 3 or 4 crypto-backed blockchain sites and getting rewarded for it on all of them.

Even if your content is controversial on one or more, and you take heat for it, you will be well-received on others. This gives you more opportunities to earn rewards for your content.

🌟 Your mission should you choose to accept it:

We need you to THOROUGHLY TEST posting to Medium using the MASDACS.io BETA testing website and give us your feedback and suggestions on how to make it even better, we also want you to report back with any bugs if you run into any.

📜 Here's what you need to do:

1) Set up your account posting keys on MASDACS.io.

✅ Currently you can post to the STEEM and GOLOS AND Medium using https://test.masdacs.io

2) Create your posts using test.MASDACS.io to publish them on Medium AND Steemit at the same time and put the URL links to your Medium ans Steemit posts in the comments with your feedback.

3) Give us your Feedback and Recommendations in a comment below.
After you've published a post or two, we want to here your feedback and suggestions on how we could improve upon the site, the process for posting, adding new features, etc.

Also, if you come across any bugs or errors, please let us know.

4) If you can screen grab any errors, or mockup the improvement, posting that image with your reply will help us a lot.

5) Please include your Bitshares/OpenLedger account name with your reply.

6) Please ReSteem this post to spread the word and help others get started posting to and earning from multiple chains.

💰 Bounty Rewards

Any bug find or improvement request we accept will earn you 10 BeyondBits!

What are Beyondbit Tokens?

Beyondbits started as a conversations in the BeyondBitcoin hangout series shortly after Steem was launched historically in those very hangouts. It began as "community tokens" or "tag coins". These cross-chain tokens give their holders the power to Summon a Whalevote to posts without having to pay for attention. And they are only given to people who Participate in Challenges, Win Contests and do other things of value for the community!

BeyondBit tokens are on BitShares! So make sure you have a BitShares/OpenLedger account to receive and send them for upvotes on your Steem posts!

Here is my feedback/comments of using test.masdacs.io on my recent post:

  1. Will there be a way to save posting keys? Becomes pretty monotonous if I have to enter all my keys every time I visit the site.
  2. No indication that credentials where saved successfully when save button pressed
  3. For those new to Medium, integration token can be created in 'Settings' (I did find that in the ? button after the fact)
  4. On cross posting page, if I click on the help ? icon I can't get the pop-up ballon to go away. Not clear you have to click ? again.
  5. When dropping image files into editor, no indication of progress (%) like with steemit editor. It took much longer to load image than steemit. I created the same post in both interfaces for comparison.
  6. To improve over steemit can you offered code dropped images in html instead of markdown? Markdown is very finicky when you try to surround with
tags and seems to require line breaks before to display correctly.
  7. No indication that draft was saved successfully when saved button pressed
  8. Can't cut/paste tags. I use the same 5 tags for my beekeeping series, pain to have to type them all in each time.
  9. Does not give an option to auto upvote on your post.
  10. Medium posted to draft folder, not published.
  11. Medium did not handle markdown correctly. See photos of Steemit vs Medium.

steemit (correct)

Medium (incorrect)

Medium post is still in draft, not sure how to fix the markdown issues.

What platform/browser were you testing on? First time anyone mentioned the account keys did not hold in local device. The site usually puts a notice bar above the content "Message: Saved".

Thank you for the detailed feedback.

Just to clarify, keys where persistent through the session, my issue is for future post instances that I need to re-enter all my keys again. That is why I questioned if there were plans for a single sign-on option. I know this would require keys to be stored somewhere and added security issues on your end, but if the ultimate goal is to get people to use it and cross post, you need to make it as easy as posting to Steemit as a barometer to get buy in.

I just went to look again and do see the "Message: Saved" for keys, but do not get it when saving drafts.

I'm not trying to nit pick, but I have seen too many projects not reach their potential or fail due to poor usability. I want to see this be successful, but functionality is not good enough for users to buy in, it needs to be easy to use.

Mac-Epic/Chrome/Brave

Interesting, it keeps the keys for me (locally), but I ran into other issues myself trying to post to all 3 at the same time.

Thank you for all your feedback, it will definitely help the team.

The keys are persistent as long as the cache isn't cleared. If your browser clears cache every time you close it then you will need to re-enter all the keys again

I posted tonight's EOSTalk Live announcement using the MASDACS.io test site so I could try a test to all 3 platforms at the same time and had mixed results this time so I just wanted to drop my notes here with everyone else's for future reference.

I had my post compiled and ready to go in MASDACS, and of course forgot to add my Medium token key, oops.

This gave me a chance to test saving as a draft which worked out perfectly and allowed me to pull the post back into the editor after I put in my Medium account info.

I am used to writing in HTML as well as Markdown in my Steemit posts and usually change the image markdown to basic html for my images. This allowed the images to show on Medium with no problems.

This time I ran into a similar issue others have reported, this was for Steemit and Golos. The post was sent to Medium with no problems. This was my fault since I copied my post source to Steemit really quick when I had to go back to put in my Medium key just to be sure I did not lose the post. This seems to cause a problem with the API not allowing you to create a post when the create a post form is open already on Steemit.

As has been mentioned by others, the API to Medium saves the post as a Draft and you need to manually Publish it after.

I was able to test the signature feature this time, that is pretty cool indeed.

Just did another post and a couple observations.

  1. You can't drop an image into the signature edit box
  2. Still had issues with getting "saved" notifications when saving drafts. It seemed to get hung and I had the reopen the window to restore the notifications.
  3. Had issues with Medium formatting the end of the post again. Perhaps miss-interpreted html break for bold? Though I did use breaks earlier in post that worked correctly.

going through the sites and typing the cross posting post to appear on steem and medium 1.PNG
successfully posted to the medium platform(was saved as draft) but having problems with posting on the steemit platform, it brought this result error 2.PNG

Thank you for taking the time to test this on Medium and giving your feedback with the animated gif.

sure, its nothing really.just making my self useful and involve

We do appreciate it :-)

I suggest to add the Editor tools of steemit posting so that you simplify the process of creating content for authors instead of copying formulas from steemit because there will be no high advantage of posting through MASDACS. If this is done, the author will create the post directly here instead of making it there and then copy because it will be easier for him to post directly on steemit instead of copying many times and coming here

When I tried medium it sent my post to the drafts folder and then I had to publish it from there manually. Is it how this should be working?

If we have to publish it manually anyway, I can't see any extra benefit of cross-posting on medium since it won't reduce our workload. Or this has something to do with medium's rules?

Apart from that I would really love to see the Post Schedule feature for steem/steemit on masdacs.io. This could be an awesome feature many users want to use.

I can't post on masdacs
This is what shows up each time i try

kindly input one or two tags like you do on steemit post

IMG_20180310_205326_160.JPG

I did that
I used 5 tags

okay, glad it helped

I got to test it out one more time and posting was smooth for me even though the medium post goes directly to draft. I have to go back to medium and repost it for the public to be able to see or view it.
Below are the steemit and medium links

After posting using MASDACS.io, i observed the following;

  1. Medium only saved as draft, had to publish the post myself.
    medium.jpg
  2. the markdown format not working....
  3. this didn't work

  4. will be cool if there is a username verifier while saving each platform's details.

In addition, picture upload came out well on #steemit, while it was a mess on #medium
