Staking HORUS via Scatter to passively earn EOS Cash (ECASH)

in #eos6 years ago (edited)

If you were among EOS holders at the genesis block (1-June-2018) you more than likely have some [HorusPay] (https://horuspay.io/) (HORUS) tokens in your account. HorusPay is creating a "decentralized Global Payroll Portal that allows companies to exchange private encrypted secured data with international payroll vendors using the Blockchain." Their model allows existing payroll companies to join in the program and aims to cut middleman costs by 40%.

At the moment, HorusPay also allows holders of HORUS to stake their tokens and earn EOS CASH (ECASH) tokens in return. To do so, you will also need a [Scatter] (https://www.get-scatter.com) account to set it up via [EOStoolkit.io] (https://eostoolkit.io/home) -- a fantastic utility site that allows you do everything from make payments to sign up for airgrabs and vote for block producers, and more.

To stake HORUS, simply sign into the site using "connect account" at the top, choose your account in Scatter and then select the HorusPay tab on the side. For "account" and "receiver" you will want to put in your EOS address, unless you want the rewards to go to another address -- then select another address for 'receiver'. Then, enter the number of HORUS tokens you'd like to stake, and click the Stake button.

Above: I've successfully staked 170 HORUS tokens.

You are able to claim the stakes of ECASH weekly, based on a monthly rate.

Some fine print: I have no idea what to expect in terms of return for staking these, and it takes a full seven days to see any ECASH from your stake. Apparently you will be able to claim the stake weekly based on a monthly rate. But that has yet to be determined. And if you decide to unstake your HORUS, it will take a full seven days for them to become available again in your account. Additionally, there is no premine -- so the first stake completions and successful claims will equal the first time ECASH will become available. Finally, there is a ten (10) HORUS minimum for staking.

Staking is a relatively new concept to any cryptocurrency platform, and staking HORUS presents a new addition to the EOS platform. As always, your mileage might vary, but if you have some HORUS lying around not doing anything now, why not stake them and see what comes?
