“Starteos has just launched a 2nd BP called games.eos. I have attempted to enter into dialogue with you guys and have given you over 96 hours to respond to my direct private messages. It’s disappointing that I have not received any kind of response of any kind. I wanted to reach out and request that you stop running the second Block Producer candidate games.eos that currently sits in 66th place (a paid BP position). The reason I ask you to stop is because it sets a very dangerous precedent for the EOS network and I believe, once you make this move, other BP’s will follow suit and copy your actions. The reason it becomes dangerous; If other BPs copy what Starteos is doing and launch a 2nd or 3rd BP themselves; we will soon end up with the large BPs being owned and run by the same handful of owners.”
User Thomas Cox says that he agrees that one entity running multiple BPs is a violation of BP independence.
User Beebop replies to the letter by saying that his suspicious mind questions if there are others behind StartEOS using it to test the waters for them to try the same thing, and mold EOS in that direction. What they might not realize is that StartEOS also presents a golden opportunity for EOS to show its true mettle and to provide substance to its claim to be a 'governed blockchain'. User Beebop continues by saying that EOS governance now must not be seen as being a bunch of hand-wringers, but a robust system with teeth that follows due process, based on a well-defined set of values to protect and promote the health of EOS. This governance should be one that cultivates an environment for EOS's health by encouraging aligned incentives, but have appropriate power to be effective when rules (constitution) are broken. User Beebop concludes by saying the following: “shortly after Maple Leaf Capital broke a story of alleged BP collusion and vote buying, many in the blockchain industry, but outside of EOS, publicly rubbed their hands with glee. A case against StartEOS will show these very people that EOS is effectively governed and has measures in place to prevent concentration of power. In short, the StartEOS issues now are a threat, but much greater, an opportunity.”

Block Producers

The channel starts discussing the influence of the current EOS token price on BPs. User Khosi asks if we know if and for how long producers can survive sub $1 token prices. He continues by saying that he remembers @eosnewyork and @thomasbcox once worked out producer operational budgets and fears for future governance issues related to the price of EOS. User pad asks a follow-up question: “and do we know which BPs are willing to operate at a loss through a protracted crypto winter? or how difficult it would be to + the % of their daily take if a matter of undeniable necessity?” User Thomas Cox says that he is considering proposing a WPS vote to double BP pay as long as token prices are below $7. User Khosi replies that there is a need of at least 30 days for that decision to be deemed acceptable. He thinks that sub $2 will happen this week. User Paul Atreides says that this is an interesting proposal. Paul Atreides says he would be curious to hear the thoughts of Thomas Cox on the economic theory/modeling that he conducted as part of this consideration.

User Thomas Cox continuous by saying that it's tremendously important that people who write DApps bake arbitration and dispute resolution into their contracts directly. Use Mattereum or Sagewise or the like. Don't throw everything onto ECAF.
