You may have recently seen the drama that unfolded when steemit CEO @ned downvoted a post made by EOS creator Dan Larimer.

Dan Larimer is the cofounder of BitShares, Steem, and now EOS. @ned is Ned Scott the CEO and cofounder of Steemit. @Dan gave @ned the keys to steemit and moved on to create EOS.

I think it is very unfortunate to have to see this fallout between the two of them publicly displayed here on steemit. Now it seems that Brendan Blumer, CEO of Block.one has stated that EOS.IO will be working on new version of STEEM that plans to fix the unfair distribution issue that plagues STEEM.

EOS Vs STEEM

So while there does not seem to be any details on this at the moment it would give the impression that EOS is planning on changing the block reward distribution on EOS to include some type of curation reward system like we already see here on steemit. Currently as it stands the block reward is set to just go to the block producers that users vote in as witnesses.

So here are some great features of EOS we already know about

  • EOS already has one of the best distributions since it has had a year long ICO.
  • Insane fast transaction times
  • EOS Storage will compete with Drop box and other cloud storage services
  • IQ airdrop plus possibly others through the EOS VC fund

EOS is still being developed and great features added all the time. We are all pretty familiar with the pros and cons of Steemit at this point. There is a large community of over 300k users. So what do you think? Will you be leaving Steemit to go to EOS? Do you think this will cause Steemit to step up their game and figure out solutions to the distribution issues?

Mmm...I don't know. Dan's going to be the brains behind it, but Steemit is the first out of the gate & it's already reached critical mass. In other words, Steemit is the prime beneficiary of the network effect, and that won't change for a long time if at all.

I think we're looking at a Bitcoin/Litecoin situation here.

I don't know if Bitcoin/Litecoin is the best analogy. As much as I hate to use the facebook/myspace analogy I feel like it is more accurate. I wouldn't say that Steemit has reached critical mass yet either. It is still the early days of blockchain social media platforms. Now do I think Steemit is going away, no not at all. It is really starting to get attention and growing everyday. However if EOS can really fix the distribution issues then that will be a big plus. Also steemit needs more ways for communities to gather like subreddits. So whoever gets that implemented first will be at an advantage. Also making it a little more user friendly for non crypto types could help. Either way I think this will be fascinating to watch and competition causes more innovation so we all will benefit from the out come.

I will be wait this DAPP

Really good post @rumble and it's very interesting to learn about this. I'm a fan of both Dan's and Ned's work so I'm sure this next project will be worthwhile.

However, maybe I'm missing something major but it seems to be that the abuses of the steemit system are a result of human nature not the system itself. I'm not sure I see how the reward system is unfair, again maybe I'm clueless so happy to hear another perspective. YES it's super hard to be seen in the beginning but those with more influence put money in the platform early or did a ton of work to earn. It wasn't stolen. From what I understand we all have equal access to rewards and to gaining the influence needed to share more rewards and gain ourselves and it's a matter of being seen amidst all of the trending garbage and making friends (real friends, not begging for votes friends).

The biggest problem is that the top 9 accounts control 60% of the Steem value; @steemit, @poloniex, @blocktrades, @freedom, @ned, @dan, @jamesc, @ben, @val-a

In the early days there was steem mining and a lot of people made a lot. But when @ned clearly abuses his power to downvote Dan and upvote himself it just create negative vibes around here. I do agree with you about how nothing was stolen and you have to work for what you earn here but things could be a little better. The big players sensor things and influence things however they want.

You're right, I see what you mean and the whole political garbage among the big players is petty and ridiculous and things could indeed be better. Plus I don't think I realized that 60% of the power is in the hands of only 9 accounts!! That's pretty extreme. Thanks for the info and insight @rumble
