What is an Airdrop?

airdrop-pic.jpg

The simplest meaning of an airdrop is when a particular blockchain project distributes free tokens or coins to the crypto community. The initial or most important requirement to get airdrop often is that you have coins from the relevant blockchain stored in your wallet.

Here are some good read about an Airdrop in detail by:

Since these Airdrops are for EOS holders and the primary requirement to get these free Airdrop tokens/coins is to hold your EOS tokens in the MEW (My ether wallet) wallet or other specified wallet mentioned on the EOS website, so you must have to transfer your EOS coins to the wallets and registered them to the ethereum address before within 23 hours after the end of the final period on June 1, 2018 at 22:59:59 UTC.

All the information available on EOS website but here are few posts you must follow in order to do in correct way:

Here are the three most important EOS Airdrops.

1. Everipedia

Everipedia is the next generation encyclopedia rebuilt for the modern age. With over 6 million articles and counting, it's already the world's largest English encyclopedia by content. Everipedia is free from ads and free to use for everyone under creative commons.

Date of releasing the Airdrop tokens will be before June 1, 2018 EOS mainnet release. You can read Everipedia Airdrop FAQ.

2. eosDAC

A Decentralised Autonomous Community (DAC) is governed by it’s constitution, which is encoded in smart contracts on the blockchain. The DAC is controlled by it’s token holders and the board members they vote to run it’s operations.

75% of eosDAC tokens (900,000,000) have been allocated for an airdrop to EOS token holders. All EOS token holders holding over 100 tokens* at the end of Day 300 of the EOS crowdsale (April 15th 2018, 01:00:00 UTC) will receive 1 eosDAC token for each EOS token that they hold. Read in detail

3. Scatter(RIDL)

RIDL ( or Reputation and Identity Layer ) is a sister system to Scatter that provides Identity verification across all networks and reputation tied to those Identities. It's primary purpose is to help users make educated decisions about the security of the applications.

Every EOS holder inside of the final EOS genesis file will receive 40 RIDL Tokens. You do not have to reserve your name to receive the airdrop, your tokens will be provided for you when you create an Identity from Scatter regardless of reservation. You will still need to register an Identity with RIDL in the future in order to claim the tokens. The tokens will not be given on the Ethereum chain, they will only be dispensed when the Identity is created on the live EOS mainnet (i.e June 1, 2018).

I just see your post right now. so sad

Since these Airdrops are for EOS holders and the primary requirement to get these free Airdrop tokens/coins is to hold your EOS tokens in the MEA (My ether wallet)

Just for future reference the acronym used for "My Ether Wallet" is MEW.

you must have to transfer your EOS coins to the wallets and registered them to the ethereum address before within 23 hours after the end of the final period on June 1, 2018 at 22:59:59 UTC.

What do you mean before and after?

how to register my mew address?

Just for future reference the acronym used for "My Ether Wallet" is MEW.

@edb1984 thanks for notifying, it was a typo. I have corrected that.

"you must have to transfer your EOS coins to the wallets and registered them to the ethereum address before within 23 hours after the end of the final period on June 1, 2018 at 22:59:59 UTC"
What do you mean before and after?

It means to say you have deadline until last hours (i.e 23rd hour) of June 1st, 2018. I hope you will understand now.

Thanks!

If you use Exodus wallet there is a simple one click registration to get your EOS tokens registered. Probably the best and safest option for most people.

I have my EOS on Kucoin.
Kucoin said they will distribute all airdrops hope EOS is included!

yes, kucoin will swap to main EOS on June 2. However, I am not sure if they deal with Airdrops. Best to buy on kucoin and transfer to your private ETH wallet.

once transferred to ETH wallet ( MEW) is that automatic registered?

This is the super viable post. there is another 100 EOS min Airdrop coming in April too.

@gavinmehl thanks for sharing. EOS is will be moon soon :)

Good stuff, does anyone know if the eosDAC tokens were dropped yet?

yes but they're still in the process of airdropping, my friend got his already in his MEW wallet but I haven't. Using this link you can find out the status, be sure to put in your ethereum PUBLIC address, never give out your private key!

https://eosdac.io/airdrop/

Airdrop is still happening. If anyone is having difficulties getting their eosDAC balance to show in MEW:

  1. Click 'Add custom Token' when in your MEW wallet.
  2. Add the following details:
  • Token Contract Address: 0x7e9e431a0B8c4D532C745B1043c7FA29a48D4fBa
  • Decimal: 18
  • Token symbol: eosDAC

eosdac has been added to the tokens list now, so no need to add manually. just select from the list.

The important Airdrop will be 16-Oct-2018 15:00 GMT
EOS and WISH holders will receive EOSISH tokens

Apart of above airdrops there is another airdrop announced by @creamer7 for EOS is here

Hi @techstack. We are doing another Airdrop for EOS holders starting 2nd April 2018.
Our product is the decentralized open source tech education platform that helps aspiring and seasoned software developers grow their skill set and track their growth through tokenized peer challenges.

More information about the Airdrop here: https://carmel.io/whitepaper/tokens#period-2

Hi, andrei.laz
Thank you for the information. The only thing is that when I open your web site I can not claim the airdrop tokens - the button UNLOCK METAMASK TO CLAIM "dead". Moreover I have MEW, not Metamask. The button with the referral link works OK. So what should I do now?

@techstack when I go to the website and click get tokens nothing happens?

my registered EOS wallet is Metamask (using Chrome extension). do you think the EOSDAC tokens will be put directly in there? how will you be able to tell which tokens are EOS vs EOSDAC?

how to register an ETH wallet?

As per their telegram group information they mentioned that if you are holding 100 EOS on Metamask then it will be automatically airdropped and you don’t need to do anything but if it’s less then 100 EOS then there are certain steps to do (you may follow telegram group for further update).

In Metamask it should show under tokens tab. If you have already registered your EOS on ETH address then your EOS is already started showing but if not then you have to do it manually (Steps mentioned on EOS.io website).

I hope this will help you. Thanks!

If I'm holding on binance will I get?

I am not sure about Binance whether they are going to support or not. For safer side it’s better and recommended that you always keep your coins in your wallet. For airdrops you need a public key which only provided by wallets not exchange. So try to move in MEW wallet and follow instructions mentioned in the post. Let me know if you need further help.

Oh, man THANK YOU! I always miss out on those airdrops, because I keep transferring the tokens away from the original address. Even HODLING has to be learned!
