EOS BPs: Is what you're doing now going to get you NOTlisted by EOS Block Producer Candidates!?

in #eosio6 years ago (edited)

Today as we further consider who we're going to be voting for in the Global EOS Block Producer Candidacy election, we are hearing and seeing reports of some BP Candidates not really playing by the rules and demonstrating unethical behaviour which is not really entering into the spirit of the EOS ethos.

These activities include, but are not limited to

  • Registering multiple accounts on testnets with the same keys and only voting for each other to give the impression of increased trust and clearly demonstrating attempts of 'Entryism'
  • Spamming other Block Producers Telegram channels with messages clearly designed to say 'vote of us'

Whilst these activities may not necessarily be entirely malicious, it is the start of a trend which I had hoped would be avoided within the EOS community.

I am not going to attempt to name and shame the BP candidates, I don't need to, we've simply added their Producer names to our internally managed "NOTlist"

We're never going to publish this list but these Block Producers need to take this seriously because if you get on our NOTlist or the NOTlist of one of the other reputable Block Producer Candidates, you aren't going to get many votes!

Remember also that aside from whales, at this stage in the game, the Block Producers are probably one of the largest voting groups as we're all token holders and know other token holders, so if you start getting a bad rep it's going to spread through the community like wildfire and is going to be very difficult for you to get rid off.

So I encourage all Block Producer Candidates engaging in these practices to stop and think, before you post that next message, or try to create a duplicate account in an attempt to 'game' the weighting system, just pause for a moment and ask yourself if what you're about to do is really in the spirit of EOS, and if it isn't, then don't do it!

You don't want to get on the NOTlist of any BPs. This kind of system has never existed before, do not try to game it, play by the rules, operate with integrity and be prepared to be transparent in everything you do. There are enough naysayers, sceptics and haters out there, don't give them any reason to be more vocal, but show them how this network operates on honesty, integrity and professionalism.

My colleagues and I at EOS UK look forward to working with other reputable BPs, creating value in the EOS platform, and helping to Secure its Future.

Let's do this guys(and girls!)

Cheers
