bedience to both is the main command of Islamic teachings. Allah Ta'ala till repeated this commandment in the Qur'an after His command of remembrance:

واعبدوا الله ولا تشركوا به شيئا وبالوالدين إحسانا وبذي القربى واليتامى والمساكين والجار ذي القربى والجار الجنب والصاحب بالجنب وابن السبيل وما ملكت أيمانكم إن الله لا يحب من كان مختالافخورا"Worship God and associate not with him anything. And do good to your two mothers "(An-Nisa [4]: 36).

In another verse also Allah Ta'alategaskan. "And thy Lord hath commanded that ye should worship none but Him, and ye should do well unto thy father's father best" (al-Isra` [17]: 23).

From the two verses above, we can understand that birrul walidain (devoted to mother and father) is the main case. devoting to both parents can be realized by always loving, loving, praying, obedient and obedient, doing things that are happy and away from things they do not like. This is what we mean by birrul walidain.

because devoted to mother and father is the main command, then the law is clear, the devotion of a child to his parents is the right that God gave to his mother and father. so, when there is a child who is not filial to his father's mother, then for him is a great sin, even though the reason is not devoted because in order to obey Allah Ta'ala.

somebody came and said to the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah, I want to join jihad, but I can not!" The Prophet asked, "Are your parents still alive?" The man replied, "My mother is alive."

then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explains: "Meet God with your dad (birrul walidain). If you do it, you will be with hajj, berumrah and jihad. "(HR Thabrani).

in another hadith it says, "Put your hands on his feet (your parents), there is heaven."

May Be Disobedient in Polytheism

Allah Ta'ala and His Apostle only permits a disobedient child to his father's mother in terms of polytheism and disobedience. but the command of filial piety to this father still apply even if the parent in polytheist condition. Although Allah Almighty provides the provision that it is not obligatory to obey the Parents in the case of polytheism. but, devoted to both, remains an inexorable obligation.وإن جاهداك على أن تشرك بي ما ليس لك به علم فلا تميرية

."And if both forces you to associate me with something that has no knowledge of it, then do not obey the two and keep both of them in the world well." (Qur'an: 31)
