Among the Sufis, the name Ibrahim bin Adham is no stranger. The owner's full name Ibrahim bin Adham bin Manshur al 'Ijli is known for the depth of intuition and knowledge of wisdom that he has. This advantage places him as a respected and charismatic figure.

Born and grown from a noble family did not make this Balkh-born figure blinded by wealth. Indeed, the sparkling of the world makes his heart closer to Allah SWT. He also decided to leave the world and practice spiritually, then share wisdom with others.

An interesting story is quoted by Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi in at-Tawwabin. The story tells of the meeting of a character born in 100 H / 718 AD with a sinner named Jahdar bin Rabiah. As usual, Ibrahim bin Adham is often visited by various people from various backgrounds.

And at that time, Jahdar in the spiritual deterioration condition of Jahdar also decided to ask for wise advice to the figure who was also familiarly called by Abu Ishaq al-Balkhi's call. Jahdar also told about his condition. He said he wanted to quit all the evil he had done so far. "Please give me a powerful way to stop it," he pleaded to Abu Ishaq.

Not immediately agreed, Ibrahim pondered for a moment. He asked for God's guidance. He then granted Jahdar's request. However, the solutions he will give are full of conditions, Jahdar must not refuse. Jahdar finally accepted happily. "What are the conditions?"

Abu Ishaq began to explain, the first condition is that if you want to act in faith, do not occasionally eat His sustenance. For Jahdar, this requirement is impossible. How can it be fulfilled, while everything that is on this earth is His gift. "Then, where do I eat?" Jahdar said.

"Of course," Ibrahim said. "If you continue to sin, is it appropriate for someone to eat His sustenance?" Jahdar surrendered. "The terms made a lot of sense and hit his heart." "Well, what's the next condition?"

Ibrahim revealed the second condition, that is, if you act in faith then do not stay on the earth of Allah. This second condition stunned Jahdar. "What? This requirement is even greater. Then, where do I live? Isn't the earth with all its contents belonging to God? "

"If so," Ibrahim said, "think carefully. Is it proper to eat His sustenance and stay on His earth, while at the same time daring to act? "For the second time, Jahdar surrendered and confirmed Abu Ishaq. "Then what is the third condition?"

"The third condition," said Ibrahim, "if you still pretend and want to eat sustenance and stay on His earth, look for a hidden place that does not appear from His supervision." "O Abu Ishaq, what kind of advice is all this? How could God not see us? "Jahdar snapped.

"Right," Ibrahim said. "If you believe God is always watching and still consuming sustenance and living on His earth, surely it is not appropriate to commit to Him. Can you do all that? "Ibrahim asked Jahdar. Unwillingly, those conditions made Jahdar stunned, silent in a thousand languages, and a severe blow to him. He also asked for the next condition.

Ibrahim said, "If the angel of death picks you up, ask him to postpone until you do and do good deeds." Jahdar became less active. He was pensive. The characters' answers who died at 782 M / 165 H were more logical and rational. "It's impossible for me to do all that," joked Jahdar while asking for the final conditions.

Ibrahim replied, "If the Angel of Zabaniyah wants to lead you to hell on the Day of Judgment, don't be willing to go with him and stay away!" Spontaneously, Jahdar's tears broke down. He regretted and begged him not to provide his advice. He also promised that he would no longer pretend to be from that moment onwards. "From now on, I repent to God," he said.
