From the very beginning of life, I
have been able to overcome the waves.
Always new,
gradually step by step.
This is life, this is the family, the
pagan people who have been killed.
This world is yours,
happiness is the house of sadness.
Out of childhood, adolescence, youth, beyond
strength, continue to hold the argument.

জীবন শুরুর সেই আদি থেকে,
তরাই-উৎরাই পেরিয়ে চলেছি এঁকে বেঁকে।
নিত্য নতুন রূপে,
ক্রমে ধাপে ধাপে।
এই তো জীবন, এই তো সংসার,
সং সাজার এই যে প্রেক্ষাগার।
এই জগৎ আমার তোমার,
সুখ দুঃখের গৃহকোন তাঁর।
শৈশব, কৈশোর, যৌবন, পেরিয়ে,
শক্তিকে ছেড়ে, যুক্তিকে ধরে চলেছি এগিয়ে।
প্রভাত এসে নামে অস্তাচলে,
একান্তে মহাশূন্য কথা বলে।
জীবনকে দেখি, পাই অনুভূতি, জীবন দিয়ে,
কে আপন, কে পর, বুঝি শেষে গিয়ে।
যদি বুঝিতাম প্রভাত বেলায়,
কষ্ট হতো না ভাসিতে ভেলায় নিজেরে নিয়ে।
লভিলাম এ কোন- নতুন জীবন, নতুন জনম?
বিস্ময়ে দেখি, পুরাতনের সাথে নতুনের মহামিলন।
জগতের পরিধি ক্রমে ছোট হয়ে,
ঠাই হলো শৈশবের সেই গৃহকোন,
এই তো জীবন!
