Korea is an East Asian region of 220,258 km2 [1], [2] located between Japan, China and Russia. It is mainly made up of the Korean Peninsula surrounded by many islands as well as the land between the Isthmus of Korea and the rivers Yalou and Tumen.

It is nicknamed the Country of the Morning calm (litt: the country of the Fresh Morning: Han-guk (한국, 韓國) or Joseon (or Chosǒn) (조선, 朝鮮). Korea, populated of more than 75 million inhabitants almost exclusively Korean, has been divided into two states since the late 1940s
