There is sometimes an advantage in disadvantage
History is littered with examples of underdogs claiming victory over bigger and stronger opponents. We have the story of David and Goliath to show us that might is not always supreme.
David was just a shephard, and in Israel being a shephard was one of the lowest professions at that time. He wasn't a trained soldier, his confidence simply came from the fact that he had killed wild animals that came after his flock. He was no where in experience compared to his rival Goliath, who had been a warrior since his youth and was raised in the art of battle. I am sure if you were asked to place a bet, you would likely bet in favour of Goliath, because he had all the skills and advantages of warfare.
History however, tells a different story as we all know that David despite his smallness and ineptitude in warfare came out victorious over a man who had all the advantages.
Sometimes in life you might find yourself at a disadvantage, you maybe battling an illness, or you might have not had the privilege of a good education, you might not be as smart or privileged as those around you but that is not a reason to allow your disadvantages work against you.
If David had allowed the fear of Goliath to overcome him like the others, then I guess by now maybe the bible would have told a different story. Then it would no longer be a story of triumph but of defeat - for the Israelites.
The Israelites only saw the size of this warrior; they saw his advantages, maybe if they had looked a little closer they would have seen other things apart from his size and armor and maybe they wouldn't be so intimidated.
Most times we get intimidated by circumstances we find ourselves, it happens to all of us, no one is above the feeling of intimidation. You have nothing to loose when you find the courage to do something about your situation. Hidden within your disadvantages are advantages you can exploit to your own benefits.
In a world that is seemingly unfair, you don't play by the rules, you play in a manner that gives you full advantage, that even if you loose, the margin would not be so devastating.
