This is Nigeria

We now live in a country where people are no longer safe in their own homes.
First it was Benue, now it's Plateau, only God knows where next. I'm sure the people in Benue never thought this could happen, until it did, I am also sure the people of Plateau thought the same. If you still think nothing can happen because you are not in any of these two places, then I urge you to think again because anything can happen.

When tragedies like this happen the question people ask is how many died, as if knowing body count would magically bring back the dead to life or bring fortitude to the families of those that died. Today it's happened in 2 states only God knows how many it would be the next time I am writing a sequel to this article.

Nigerians are of the habit of sweeping matters under the carpet, but one day the carpet would become so full of dirt that it would be impossible to hide any more.

I can bet you that in a matter of days, this issue would be long forgotten. Life would return back to normal until it happens again, then people will start talking in the street corners, facebook feeds will be filled with pictures and videos of what is happening, our whatsapp status would be filled with eulogies until the whole thing dies down and the circle continues.

Sadly, nothing is done about these issues, not even a single arrest or persecution is carried. The people who commit these crimes simply vanish into thin air and we never hear from again until they commit another crime in the same place or in in different location.

Anyway, this is Nigeria.
