A bee hard at work here pollinating!

But what is the flower that the bee is working on?
Well, it is the second carry of fruit on this tree for the year and I have placed a comprehensive post about the tree before.
For those of you that have read the other post, see if you can remember it.
Let's have a look!

Here's two fruit beetles at work on a flower of the same tree!
Know what the tree is yet?

Well, it's not a flower at all, It's a cluster of fruit buds.

And here you can see the fruits growing!

This is a picture of the tree!

Here's some more fruit clusters!
They will transform into fruits.

And here I have a fruit in my hand.
This is a Macadamia Nut!

Here's some Macadamia nuts from the first harvest!

The first day of June is normally the official start of winter here in South Africa.
A strange reason for the Macadamia tree to carry it's second load so late in the year. Maybe as a result of the crazy weather patterns lately.

Soon I will have to start nut collecting again in a match against the squirrels and I have noticed that they are already watching the progress of the tree. The fun will start when the first nuts start to drop down from the tree.

Our rental period ends here at the end of June, but we have been given one month extra and so I am going to enjoy my skirmishes with the squirrels again for the nuts. As you know, we ensure that the squirrels get more than enough of the nuts.

Hope you have enjoyed the pictures.

Howdy sir papilloncharity! very interesting, macadamia nuts! Great pictures. Hey, where are you going when the rental unit time is up and why is it up?

What a great story, to show the growing from flower to fruit. I've never seen Macadamia nuts in these stadiums. I only knew the finished nuts in the supermarkets here. Thanks a lot for showing.

Thank you and glad to have shown you their growing process my friend.
Now you know the macadamia tree.
Blessings!

I have never heard of this nut. Thanks for sharing. Would love to know how is this tastes actually?

A soft and smooth silky and nutty taste my friend.
Macadamia nuts are popular worldwide.
Blessings!

Yes I remember the previous post and what awesome shots you got here great to see the pollinators at work :)

Great that you remembered JJ and I so wish for a rethink about pesticides, as no more pollinators, no more macadamias and other fruits.
Blessings!

New Zealand is very big for not using pesticides or chemicals on plants or gardens, and I think it is something that needs ot be the norm the world over and not the exception as it is in so many places

Totally agreed with you JJ.
Many are going to want to close the doors after the horse has bolted.
They had to build mountains of plastic in the oceans before they awoke to the damages that they are causing. It is unfortunately the same situation with the pollinators that they are killing off.
Blessings!

I am glad to report i am seeing far more pollinators this year than the last couple but I do agree we need to focus on protecting them and letting them grow back to the number they should be

ooooh I love macadamia nuts
Now I know what the tree looks like
And those beetles... with polkadots ... cute

Great pics ... as always 😊

Thank you and I think that they had an excellent tailor because their polka dot dresses fit them so well Lol.
Glad to have shown you the tree my friend.
Blessings!

Farming with these nuts is amazing every thing is used, make so many different products with them as well.

Good to hear you have an extra month settled where you are, now able to watch the Squirrel Olympics once again Stephen.

Hahaha, oh yes indeed Lady Joan, but the strange thing is that the nots are growing much faster than the first load. Almost like they are trying to beat the winter cold.
Even the landlady said that she has never seen this before.
Squirrel Olympics are soon in the offing!
Raining oxes and goats here now for today and the next two days. (Cats and dogs?)
Blessings!

Having perfect winter weather in Durban, definitely the best place to be during winter. Look forward to story about the squirrels and the nuts going crazy at this time of the year.

Hahaha, the best winter weather in Durban inspires all of the hobos to hitch a lift there from Johannesburg every year.
The saying wen thus; If you want to go where the weather is nice, simply follow the hobos"
First time that I see signs of the squirrels before sunrise Lady Joan.
Blessings!

Hobos are a problem sleeping on the sea dunes coming off the beaches in the bush, some set up camping sites lately which local authorities are going into at night clearing them out, not sure if that will ever change.

Only place I have seen squirrels up here is in St Lucia, the rise with the sun and go out for the day returning at sunset, they are too cute.

Beautiful macro photograph....well done sir...
Nice post..

Thank you my friend!
Blessings!
