This caterpillar is less than an inch in length and its color is red, orange and yellow with its purple and green lines. This caterpillar also uses bright colors as a warning to announce how dangerous he is; aka aposematic coloration. This colorful species is having black-toed spines with its poison glands. if touching this caterpillar it will cause punctured tip of the thorn and the poison into the skin. then this can cause skin rashes, irritation and hypersensitivity reactions. These caterpillars can be found in woody plants such as dogwood, maple, oak, cherry, or apple, poplar and hickory.
