Big Band Jazz Concert with your Steem neighbor @steemseph on bass featuring a Song List with Periscope Links.

in #esteem6 years ago (edited)

It's two days after the concert and songs are still ringing in my head. One day ago, I was still visualizing and hearing the various bass parts I could have done differently or better. Is that a sign of musical post traumatic stress? Big Band Traumatic Stress Disorder? Swing shock? I'm not even that good. WAIT! Is that sign of it too?! Saying, "I'm not even that good?!"

🧟‍♂️This is the previous post where I invited neighbors to see the big band: https://steemit.com/bigband/@steemseph/final-big-band-jazz-concert-for-2018-with-steemseph-on-bass-xy7dmk3e

🎷 The first song starts off with a Baritone Saxophone solo, here on the broadcast: https://www.pscp.tv/w/btLHUDFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTLz5CtVJ7bp6vCcaWkszlrJombOS7b0uP4ZjkcBDFGcT?t=3m54s

I'm currently trying to create this the day after because it's fresh in my mind. It seem easiest to get it all out in a follow up post before editing. I'm about to perform again with a steel drum band at a yacht club/marina. Totally different music. Maybe when I get home I'll be able to focus on this a little more. Maybe 😐...

Below you'll find a list of songs and a link to the start of the song. It's a complete list of all the songs we performed for the big band concert.

Moanin' is the first song. We go fast and try to sound scary in a jazzy kinda way. It's a jazzy one here: https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=3m35s

The Look Of Love is considered a "latin" tune. I would call it a bossanova. Our friend Kris sings it. She also sings with Steel Parade sometimes. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=16m24s

Fun Time is a big band swing tune that sounds like a TV theme song to me. Usually I do research on the music I'm perfuming, but this season has been blah, blah, blah... I like this song, see it here: https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=21m39s

Christmas Time Is Here is a slow song that might be cool is we had witch cackling sounds and if I played lots of sliding notes or scary trills. It would have been cool to make it sound like scary christmas music. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=27m32s

All I Want For Christmas Is You, is by Mariah Carey and now that I have played a Mariah Carey song, I can die. I practiced triplet slap and pop technique in private, but I never used it during the performance. Seemed a little over the top... maybe next time. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=32m14s

The Christmas Songis a nice pretty ballad featuring a Flugelhorn and that's kinda like a bigger trumpet. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=36m56s

Come Fly With Me is a famous tune. We played a Quincy Jones arrangement of it. I wonder if it's the same Quincy Jones I'm thinking of. Michael Jackson and stuff, right? Quincy Jones is also the name of a famous architect. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=43m38s

Sway is another song I think Slipknot should redo. Maybe that's too crazy, but a Vampira or even an Elvira amendment to our performance would be lots of fun. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=47m14s

Miss Otis Regrets is by Cole Porter. I learned this song about two days before this performance. Meh... last minute addition, that's just how it is some times. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=50m56s

Baby, It's Cold Outside was made famous by Frank Sanatra and this night we had Elliot Jones. He is the SAC Choir Director. https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=54m41s

The Chicken is originally by Peewee Ellis and then made really popular by Jaco Pastorius, a LEGENDARY bass player. I was afraid they would strike us down with lighting during our performance: https://www.pscp.tv/w/btS0MTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVJER2xxYkRqbm1KTAACIBpriJN3IUZozF58qzbUoImf7xF28TTt9bN5sJTl?t=1h1m13s

So here I am a few days later and a few of the songs still resonate in my head a little. I should probably listen to something else.

I hope you enjoy skipping around or just letting it play while you cut your lawn. Good lumberjack music, right? Listen to this music while removing your pool's tile. Be safe.

Does this qualify as an entry into the SoCalSteemit contest again? It's cool if it doesn't. I have another DTLA panoramic window view to share too. I can wait, but now is a good time to mention the contest either way.

Never a complete post without a rant about spam.

Incase you didn't know, there are several anti-abuse projects. Some of our most beautiful Steem neighbors are trying to preserve the authenticity of Steem.

Below are some of my recent favorites and if you like Steem, show these groups some love. Upvote their content or delegate if you have the extra SP just burning a hole in you pocket.

Utopian-io (@utopian-io) shows how they help encourage anti-abuse curation:

Steem Flag Rewards (@steemflagrewards) shows how it supports steemians that are not afraid to flag.

Steem Cleaners (@steemcleaners) gives a detailed DIY for creating your own anti-abuse project. This is long over due in my little bubble of vision. I hope they get lots of upvotes on that. I hope a healthy anti-abuse project grows out of it too.

This was posted with esteem! It may also appear on Wordpress, but rest assured the links come right back to us here at Steem. Let's get them... err, uhh I'm meant to say This is a simple strategy to expose Steem platforms to new bloggers. Wordpress is kinda wacky on my mobile device. It's gotten better since I started complaining (#veryloudly) on Twitter though. I've heard good thing about steempress, so i'll be trying that real soon. I also use Partiko for stuff. They are my favorite Steem experience for notifications on an iPhone. My "notification game" has gone up thank to Partiko.
