Ethereum - Proof of stake

Hey Guys,

Just curious if anyone knows how the proof of stake for Ethereum is going to work in replacing the proof of work mining techniques. This should be a hot topic as a lot of people have invested so much in the mining equipment. Would love hear some discussion on this or some more information and resources, and predictions.
