The blockchain utopia has to lift off with challenging Governments

I don't know about your country - there certainly are exceptions,
but usually stuff is run like this:

1 - Your participitation rights are limited to give a vote on a political party at certain intervals.
2 - You have no further control, i.e. if the party you voted for misuses your trust you can't do anything.
3 - There is usually a certain amount of corruption going on between lobbies or strong business entities and members of potitical positions. If a connection is discovered, there is again nothing you can do. These cases go to court, but often have a rather mild outcome for even cases of utter corruption.
4 - The media supports these systems. Their attention is often focused on "Who becomes President", instead of "What happens currently in politics" - Bias toward reporting on ongoing election camgaigns and future election.

So, what we clearly need is a heavier stake in government, especially in areas like introduction and reform of laws, direct selection of representatives and easier introduction of suggestions bottom-up, only to name some examples.

Since this is a crypto space I don't want to dwell on the fundamental technology of blockchains, but it was communicated early on that Ethereum will develop tools for governance and election systems. These days, some systems are in an alpha phase, like http://democracy.earth/ or https://aragon.one/ and I hope that they will be usable sooner, rather than later, because we need them now.

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend the TED Talk on the democracy.earth page - it is rather thoughtful I'd say.

Once we have tested these systems and they become deployable, do you see what we will be doing? We will start to seed these tools and push for our own leaders to use them. We should follow the example in Argentina and push them to small, new, technology focused parties. And then - we vote out the crap.

Stay positive earthlings!
