The European Court of Human Rights has ruled in Ukraine's favor that Russia has engaged in a pattern of human rights abuses in Crimea since its occupation in 2014.

Russia is deemed to have engaged in unlawful detention and persecution of critics of the occupation. They have repressed religious and ethnic minorities in Crimea.

Russia abducted and tortured Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars. At least 8 known individuals remain missing.

Russian security services subjected detained individuals to electrocution and mock executions. Many were sent to penal colonies in Russia.

Ukrainian language has been suppressed. Property and assets of Ukrainians have been seized by the Russians.

Russia has raided mosques. Tatar homes have been vandalized and painted with crosses.
