Evernym / Sovrin ICO Scammers

in #evernym7 years ago (edited)

NOTE: I’ll be updating this page as things evolve…UPDATE (2018–03–03): The Evernym and Sovrin Foundation leadership is aware of the scammers and it preparing official response and an action plan. The notes here are my attempt to assist (I advise both) in the meantime. I’ll update it with links to official statements.

The Facts

  • Evernym is NOT offering a coin. They have been doing a pre-sale of the Sovrin coin. Only accredited investors have been engaged and this process is pretty much complete.
  • The Medium user “@evernym” is NOT the real Evernym. They are a scam site. They have an interesting approach though — each article they post is just a copy of real Evernym (www.evernym.com) articles. But they add one thing — there is no OfficialEvernym Telegram account. That’s a scam channel. The rest of the links they share are real and point at the real Evernym sites.
SO — DO NOT FALL FOR IT.

Who Am I To Say This?

I am a consultant and advisor for Evernym and an active volunteer for the Sovrin Foundation. I work with the leadership of both organizations on a near daily basis. I am also volunteering on the Sovrin Trust Framework Working Group where I lead the Token sub-group, preparing the policy and governance parts of the framework.

OFFICIAL CHANNELS/SITES/ETC.

I’ll maintain a list of the various real sites that are related to the Sovrin and Evernym leadership.SOVRIN

EVERNYM

The Sovrin and Evernym communities are growing and there will be many people tweeting, blogging, chatting, and otherwise sharing messages. That’s awesome but DO NOT use those unofficial people as the source of truth. Reach back into the official channels to confirm.NOW — None of the Evernym and Sovrin team will ask you to just randomly send ETH to an address. They are NOT raising funds that way. Pre-sale has already been completed largely and only accredited investors have ever been contacted. The scammers don’t even know that the pre-sale already happened — under very strict conditions. They scammers also don’t know that the coin will be named for Sovrin — the open, global public foundation that governs the Sovrin Network. There is no Evernym coin/token.

WANT TO HELP KEEP THE COMMUNITY SAFE?

There are a few things that you can do:

  • Report the Evernym Medium account. I have already done this but we need large numbers likely for Medium to listen.
  • Warn your colleagues that there are scammers posing as Sovrin and Evernym and to be VERY CAREFUL. Use official channels only.
