It is considered that "progenitress" of a type of Homo sapiens existed in the territory of Africa about 200 thousand years ago. She is named mitochondrial Eve. That is, the mankind has inherited from her mitochondrial DNA. As we know, the last is inherited only on the maternal line, and all people who live now have received DNA from Eve. Only don't think that this woman was the only progenitress of our look. Near her also others lived, similar to her, but their mitochondrial DNA haven't remained. Descendants of these women haven't lived up to now. Generally, mitochondrial Eve is an abstraction which was created for simplification of calculations.
