E.L.E. # 6
Pack your poop people, we're all going away. Unless you've got a ride to the next liveable planet, fill your pockets with jam because we're all toasties.
The sixth extinction level event (E.L.E.) began with the Manhattan Project in 1945. After Truman showed Stalin America's new toy, by blowing Hiroshima and Nagasaki off the map, the idea of killing a whole lot of people with very little effort went viral. Since that time, over 2,400 more nuclear bombs have been set-off as practice for killing the reminder of the planet. In addition, the nuclear power plant has been sold to the public as a clean source of energy. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima Daiichi have shown that the money-makers are still in business trying to sale the suckers a lie.
While the public continues to allow all of the bombs and power plants to be built and used, little
is said about the radiation that has been produced and let loose on the environment.
So called "background" radiation is nature's natural minute dose. It measures at 5 to 20 counts per minute (cpm) on a Geiger counter. This measure is said to be comparable to taking a walk in the sunshine. Man-made radiation (rads) produced by exploding nuclear bombs and nuclear power plant meltdowns can create hundreds of radioactive isotopes that are foreign to nature's garden. Each isotope has its own structure, characteristics, and half-life, but all of them have one thing in common; they are all able to destroy life.
Nuclear contamination settles into and on to everything. It is absorbed by plants and animals and it accumulates as it moves up the food chain. It continues to collect in the organism until the dose causes sickness or the immune system weakens to the level where disease invades the system. The rads can break down a cell's organization causing cancer.
The radiation will continue to accumulate because of all that has happened, all that is happening, and all that will continue to happen in the future. Any isotope with a half-life of more than 70 years is still hot. Chernobyl has been contributing since 1986. Fukushima Daiichi has been growing worse since March of 2011. The Somalian coast off east Africa is said to be a toxic dumping area as is the Mediterranean Sea and locations in Russia to include the Mayak Chemical Combine and Siberian Chemical Combine. North America ironically is receiving a large payback of rads from Japan while the U.S. has hot spot leaks at the Hanford Nuclear Site, the west side of St. Louis toxic dump from the 1940's Manhattan Project, the Nevada toxic dump north of Las Vegas, the Indian Point Nuclear Plant on the Hudson River just north of New York City, and any of the other plants that are 30 years or older.
The 6th E.L.E. continues to worsen in every way. The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), who owns the Fukushima Daiichi Plant, has announced that they will dump another 700,000 tons of toxic water into the Pacific Ocean. Yet, only the local fisherman voice any concern The governments of the world, the supposed protectors of the people, don't say a word, and muzzle the people who do. The good news about all the rads is that there is no place to run and no place to hide. So, unless the perpetrators are nuclear proof they will be toasting along with the rest of us.
