Facebook appoints a "Director of Blockchain ?

The first ever "Director of Engineering, Blockchain" has been appointed to Facebook: Evan Cheng, the company's former "Director of Engineering, Programming Languages & Runtimes", also working at Apple before.

Cheng, moreover, is an advisor at ChainLink and Ziliqa blockchain projects.

This May, an anonymous source said that Facebook might get serious about creating its own cryptocurrency so that its users could make electronic payments.

Facebook has recently eased its heavy stance on cryptocurrency-related ads, followed by rumors it might acquire Coinbase.
