Facebook is removing trending features

in #facebook6 years ago

Facebook has closed the trending section next to the news feed. The feature can not be seen again on Friday, on the Facebook home page. This feature is open for five countries around the world. Facebook's head of news products in a blog post said, "We have come to our research for a long time, users have given less importance to the feature. The feature has never been very popular in the last four years. On average, it has a 0.5 percent click. The feature was opened officially in 2014 to highlight good news content in front of Facebook users. Then in 2016, a former Facebook activist said his colleagues were biased towards the Conservative Party. Many stories published against the Conservative Party were not shown in the trending. In this, Facebook fired the staff and started sorting the news through the algorithm system. But the system fails to distinguish between real and fake news. So Facebook also excludes the whole trending section to reduce the number of fake news.
