Emigrate to protect your family - A comparison with the holocaust
Exiled Venezuelan
Many years ago the Jews had to leave their nation to protect themselves as individuals and indeed their family, if on the contrary they decided to stay in their country they had to submit to aggressions by the Nazis, where they did not even have the capacity to work since they were considered impure, their houses were burned down and they suffered any kind of humiliation until finally the concentration camps were implemented, right here these human beings were treated like animals and beaten while they were carrying out heavy work, the amount of food was rationed, As a consequence, these human beings suffered from high malnutrition rates.
Currently, in Venezuela a similar situation is experienced, those of us who stay within the country have monthly salaries of $ 3 and a kilo of milk costs $ 4, a kilo of rice costs $ 2, a small insignificant juice costs $ 2, that is, the population does not have purchasing power that allows even basic needs to be met, starting with food. Most adults are so malnourished that scapular bones are visible, while children and adults scavenge to eat from there, at times, conflicts are generated because the waste is not enough for everyone, on the other hand, the fact of getting sick in the country of simple pathologies such as tonsillitis, it is impossible to find antibiotics in the nation, basically you are condemned to death. As if that were not enough, the crime rates are devastating, in any region of the country you can die simply for resisting an assault, you do not want to give your belongings and empty a weapon on your body or on the contrary, inside your house, in any moment to enter to take your belongings and assault you.
Due to the aforementioned mentioned many Venezuelans are forced to emigrate, leave the country in search of a better future or at least it is what many think but, a large part of the population flee from the holocaust, it goes to the USA (who has a better economic position) to different countries in Latin America such as Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, are some of the destinations that have received most Venezuelan exiles, despite this, many leave the country with a penalty of $ 200, if only $ 200 They do not allow you to cover basic needs, I will share with you the flight of my uncle, who unfortunately represents a large proportion of the exiles of my nation.
I dare to call it a holocaust because, you must work a whole month for a salary that does not allow you to cover the basic needs and additionally you must stop doing recreational activities because your income and crime do not allow it, we are at the mercy of the Gestapo, in Venezuela they are called collectives, they are armed groups led by the state that generate havoc at the national level, stealing, killing and attacking anyone who complains about the regime.
In principle, the fact of collecting the amount of $ 200 deserves to sell properties but, in a country devastated by inflation, that translates into getting rid of your car and house, that's what the average Venezuelan exile does to be able to get out of the country, hence the trip must necessarily be done by land, ie through a bus crossing all countries until the destination, this lasts about 7 days approximately where it is indifferent to be an adult, child or elder are all subject to the same regrets , among them the first of all, carrying on your back the nostalgia of leaving your family, your country and leaving without an opportunity to make a mistake since everything you had to sell it to be able to take flight, precisely this stage is the most demanding emotional level, since there are families that are detached little by little, each one chooses a different north, each one will go through hardships without having someone at their side to trust or with to share important dates like birthdays and other festivities.
When leaving our country there are many checkpoints that you have to go to finally reach the border, in these alcabalas are officials of the strength and security of the government but also the collectives and these are responsible for withdrawing any type of property that has any commercial value, they simply withdraw it without more or more and if for some reason they manage to visualize the possession of dollars, they also remove them from there that most Venezuelans invent some secret pockets inside their clothes to avoid that they find the treasured Dollars. Just when you get to the first border you feel incredible relief and levels of anxiety decrease since you have already left the Venezuelan danger, there is no Gestapo or national police that threatens your integrity, now you are left alone, naked, with nothing Thousands of citizens do exactly the same thing every day, they all go the same way as you, lost, without knowing where to go, where they are and especially to wait, many cry disconsolate for the pain they experience and others, on the other hand, become absorbed and walk like zombies.
After successfully leaving the first frontier, they must look for a bus that takes them to another destination, the next border, this will clearly depend on the country they wish to go to, but when they are transiting from country to country, they will find different panoramas, both receptions ideal, human, warm as well as significant aggressions. One of the countries that is providing great help is Peru, just when you enter its territory there are non-profit organizations that give you hot drinks, sheets and pillows, many of these people spend the whole trip without eating since they do not have money to do it and others, suffer the ravages of climate change, are similar realities, where everyone still in shock does not know what to do, or what to expect, but appreciate any quota of humanity that the neighboring country can offer.
Once they arrive in the destination country, they find a different reality, they do not walk there pending who is next or if a motorcycle is the one who deprives them of their goods, there they see that people are friendly and that anyone can eat with a salary If you have a job you can satisfy your basic needs, although it seems a surprise because you have not lived for years, it is real. Right here begin the new challenges, find a place to live, at that time is where they must spend up to a month sleeping on the floor since the money is not enough to buy a mattress, there are a lot of challenges to face Some achieve it and others, on the contrary, allow themselves to be consumed by the changes, the impossibility to get a job and the distance from their loved ones.
Although I narrate it in the third person, my uncle is the reason for this story, he is currently in Peru for two weeks and still can not find a job but, if where to live despite sleeping on the floor, he has to eat, the in Venezuela was a political persecuted, the government had intervened his personal cell phone and the collectives (called by the Nazis Gestapo) chased him to put him prisoner and collided with another car, due to said persecution, he left in Venezuela his two young daughters and his wife, we all hope that he will find a job to get the daily sustenance.
Our life happens, history is written but, there are social phenomena that are repeated. Venezuelans are living a holocaust, give them your hand every time you come across one of them, give yourself the opportunity to know their personal history, maybe it will bring personal growth.
Thanks for reading and for helping.
All the rewards of this post will be destined to those exiled.
