I guess good investigation of the situation within the home is important before taking any action. Taking away a child away from his/her real parent may sometimes do more harm than good. Family protection as you mentioned could be a way to provide awareness of the other side of the story. Hopefully no one abuse this tag but use it to raise the right awareness.
