Foster children sentenced to life imprisonment - Psychological contribution to our friend's post @thethreehugs

For a week, I keep thinking about reading the post of @thethreehugs about the number of young people subjected to life imprisonment in the United States, for having committed certain behaviors outside the law, while they were minors and more important is that these children come from shelters in charge of social service, there are imnumerable cases that we have seen where the CPS seems not to be responsible for the children who are in charge, much less to implement certain modifications in cases that do they merit, in other words, if a large proportion of these children have suffered some type of violence in their childhood, whether psychological physics, which is what the different system offers them, so that they take it out of their homes? to resolve the issue and provide stability and security or only to fill their portfolios of the budget allocated to the institutions.

Since I started writing most of my contributions have been in psychological and this time I also want to do it, I want to explain what happens in an infant when immersed in problematic environments, what are the consequences that a child suffers when seeing, suffering and to introject that the only way to feel loved is being attacked by significant figures, whether parents, representatives, caregivers, social service agents or children of similar age.

What should the social service do when taking off aggressed children from a hostile environment

The first thing that an agende of social service should do is send it to the psychology service of the institution, let me tell you that everyone has a psychologist, unfortunately there are few cases that go there, children need psychotherapy to teach them to heal their wounds and, above all, to channel the emotional lacks that the fact of growing up in a hostile environment generates, where their parents do not provide them with the love they need to grow and be people who follow the instructions and adapt to the parameters of society. Similarly, psychological therapy must teach them to be able to determine what is healthy and healthy affection, in many cases these children grow up believing that the way to show affection is with strokes.

On the other hand, social service must ensure that children receive education, quality, not as we have seen and suffered, when I live in a hostel, education is optional and depends on you whether you want to attend or not, or when they force you there is no one to follow up on your performance, this does not concern them. It is assumed that the goal of social service should be to provide a better quality of life to children not reinforce that hostility that they were part of because nobody wants them or their parents, since they abused them with blows, shouting, and more.

Repercussions in personality traits

The personality at the psychological level is what determines who we are going to be in adulthood, if we have an infant that grows in a problematic environment, then we place him in a shelter where his basic or emotional needs are not satisfied, in many opportunities these boys They flee because they do not feel comfortable and spend their time running away from the police, there they must do anything to eat, to shower and to stay safe. This generates in them antisocial characteristics of the personality, I explain them in principle externalizes ristuptivas conducts that are based on following the parameters of the society, then by necessity it begins to steal, and thus until its crimes go in escalation, until it it becomes a lifestyle and generates, as I said beforehand, an antisocial personality.

On a psychological level, these little ones go against society because they feel they are victims of everything they have experienced, of abusive parents, of an abusive system that crushes them and that do not care how they are, and when they come to establish themselves in bands, is looking for that support and emotional closeness that no one gives them. That's when this becomes dangerous, or is it that you, who read this post, who like me were in a shelter and managed to escape did not do it in the company of someone, if here any drugs or theft, strangely he did , I just always look for someone to help him, clearly because he no longer tolerated what it means to live under social service, but he also did not tolerate the emotional loneliness that many of us have.

On the other hand, many children similarly develop personality traits corresponding to a dependent personality and are those that generate consequently addictions to certain substances, whether alcohol, psychoactive or psychotropic, many of these children are in need of stealing for to be able to consume these substances, which translates into behavior punishable by law and non-compliance with the company's own regulations. Clearly all of the above mentioned could be channeled into the competent body if they performed their work in an appropriate manner, without individual interests.

Living in a CPS shelter without contact with our relatives is not easy, this can develop many psychological pathologies, some of us were lucky enough to be good people but there are those who are part of the statistics and the nation eats them with laws absurd for minors such as life imprisonment, where the child is not even responsible for their actions, since I perform them for being a victim of the system, which instead of helping it feeds their imbalances and weaknesses.
