Updated Garden Pics!

The pictures I used in my introduction were taken a few weeks back and since then everything has really taken off!

Here we have our corn in the back row, sunflowers inbetween, nasturtium, and chamomile. Watermelon patch to the left and pumpkin patch to the right.

We have a Jaboticaba tree to the right, hops are climbing and budding like crazy right now. We have golden nugget, chinook, cascade, and willamette doing very well at the moment.

Our peppers are doing great, just starting to fruit. Eggplant is surviving along with the zucchini and squash we just transfered. The oregano is filling the bed in nicely. Tomatoes are in the other bed and they're fruiting great, but the leaves are curling like mad, even though we water regularly. Starting to think it is a viral issue. Any comments or advice are appreciated!

Thanks for checking in, make sure to say hi! :)

Ooo lovely! Nasturtiums are definitely delicious! I've had tomatoes do something very similar but for me it was later in the summer which I'm quite sure was a blight. Are they turning brown also? If not you could possibly be over watering but that seems less likely.

Thank you! The fruits look fine which is why I'm so confused. We've had the soil tested and everything. Bought our seedlings from a neighbor, will definitely be starting our own from seed here on out. rareseeds.com

yeah, I've only grown tomatoes a few times so not sure. best of luck with them!

ok last guess, it feels counter-intuitive but are you sure you're not overwatering them?

That may be the case. We water once a day. I think I remember reading somewhere that every third day is best but my husband disagrees. Thank you again!

Yep, anything to help tomato plants! I learned the lesson the hard way after giving up on some unhappy looking plants and leaving them to die, only to realize a week later they perked back up once they had used all the water that was drowning them haha, you can have too much of a good thing..

Your farm is looking great! Urban farming is the way to go!

Many thanks and I agree! Grow food, not lawns! ;)

It looks like a lovely garden and it is always good to get outside and do some work in the garden, looking forward to following you :-)

Thanks a bunch! Following you as well, such a great range of posts, looking forward to going through them all.

I'm going to do a few posts on my own garden, so may be asking you for advice.

We have just cleared it out and note I'm trying to make sure that all the bush trees are dead before I start seeding.

That's how you clear it out! My husband and I work too hard clearing everything out by hand. Going to be following your steps to work smarter not harder! :) Happy to help with whatever I can. Be well and enjoy your land!

Have you thought about trying to trellis those crazy squash plants? Should help take up less space for your urban gardening! :)

I think what you might be talking about is our pumpkin patch. We only have one squash plant in our box this year. But the pumpkins are going crazy up next to the house.

Pumpkins are squash. :) you could try trellising it too... unless they're giant pumpkins! Hahaha

Bahaha right they are. That sounds like a fantastic idea, will help with the airflow too.

Hahah
And no weird discoloration from being on the ground. Ooooo I hope you do it!

Will take some inginuity with how large they are already, but I'll MacGyver something and write a post about it. :)

What an informative article! Thank you so much for sharing! :)

You're very welcome! I hope it has some solutions!

This is quite amazing work. You have accomplished much in a short time!

Many thanks! Feed and water the plants well and they will provide you with so much more in return! :)

Looks great! I made a couple of raised beds this year for vegetables. I like the nasturtium's when I was growing up we used to eat those in sandwiches (my mom was a total hippie).

Mmm yes! Nice caper flavor, your Momma had it right! Glad you're getting the green thumb this year. Nothing like growing your own food. :)

I like it. Are those raised beds in your front yard? If so, I salute you big time! You definitely have some nice variety in your garden.

I hate the curly leaf thing... Last year it struck my beefsteak tomatoes. The was nothing I could do.

Anyway, beautiful garden.

Thank you :)They most certainly are! Our backyard is great, but full of trees. Not complaining, I love it because we feel like it's an oasis in the city. Front yard gets full sun so we're taking advantage of that. We've had a lot of neighbors happy with the result and talking about doing the same. Here's to growing food and not lawns! ;)
