The different ways of preserving ginger often cause its expiration date to be far, reaching, for example, up to six months in the case of ginger in oil. However, it is still possible to extend its useful life a little longer.

In general, it is customary to buy fresh ginger at home. It is important to preserve this product as well as possible to maintain its properties. Word of mouth goes through different methods and systems of preservation, but how to preserve fresh ginger? The most effective system is this one that we are going to explain to you and, in addition, it is also much simpler than others.
Grab the fresh kión without peeling and wrap it in paper like the one of kitchen or napkins of paper.
Put it inside a plastic bag with airtight seal of those that are sold for food use.
Put the bag in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator or refrigerator.
The kión will keep like this without problems and will keep it fresh for its use during approximately 3 weeks. A more than enough time to consume it. They can also go a little over the six-month period and you can easily take the portions you need.

KEEP THE GRATED GINGER
It is another option, but how is the grated ginger preserved? It is easy. You only have to grate it when you have bought it and wrap it equally in the paper, then put it in the plastic bag and leave it in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator. In this case, you can wrap different portions of grated ginger depending on the amount you use so that you do not have to remove the entire bag from the fridge every time you use it.

KEEP GINGER IN OIL
The system of preserving ginger in oil is a little more complex, because you have to put oil in a container in the oven with the grated kión at a temperature of 65ºC for about 2 hours. Once it has cooled, it is necessary to store this oil well in a bottle, being necessary to have previously cast it to remove remains of the root. This will last about 6 months. This, for example, goes very well for recipes with ginger like salads to dress them and give them a different touch.

KEEP CANDY GINGER
Keeping candied ginger takes more time than keeping it fresh because you have to make the jam is somewhat more laborious than the processes mentioned above. To do this, you need four times the amount of sugar and twice as much water as the amount of sugar to be confined. The process consists of:
Peel and cut the ginger into thin slices.
Put it in a saucepan with the water until it reaches the boiling point.
Let it simmer until it is tender. It usually takes about 60 minutes.
Drain it
Prepare the syrup, putting sugar and water in a saucepan.
Once the sugar has dissolved, add the ginger.
Wait until it cooks about 90 minutes or until the syrup almost dries.
Take the kión and put it on kitchen paper to cool it.
Take the kión and wrap it in sugar like a jelly bean.
Add the candied kión in a well closed glass jar to keep it in a cupboard or in the fridge.
