Why you should donate to Crypto Faucets

in #faucet7 years ago (edited)

Welcome once again.

Let me start by asking, what is a faucet?

A faucet is the name given to any website or app which gives away free crypto-coins, so that newbies can experiment with the coin or advertise their beacon in the case of Gridcoin, without needing to buy any coin or risk losing money while making those initial newbie mistakes of creating and sometimes forgetting their wallet details or transferring coins to wrong addresses etc.

How do faucets get the money to pay for the free coins?

Most faucets are commercial ventures, which generate revenue from advertising in order to pay for the coins which they give away and I believe keep some for self.

Will you still donate to a faucet, knowing it is a commercial venture?

I still wonder what the take home pay is for faucet owners compared to the give away but based on a previous post on empty or dry faucets, in which I was trying to canvas for donation for empty faucets, I got engaged in a discussion that shed more light on reasons they become dry.

Faucets are a source of starter coins for Noobs ... Actually there is little incentive since far too many people look at them as a source of "free coins" and are constantly running them dry ... the intent is to use them to get enough to send your Beacon and then "stand on your own two feet" once you are off and running. Hopefully once you get established, then you can donate to help other people who are starting out.

Meaning it's the freebie hunters that run the faucets dry.

Will you still donate to a faucet now that you are establish and informed?

I do hope you will donate back to the faucets, so that, newbies will have coins to experiment with and for them to advertise their beacon in the case of gridcoin.
