Something entirely different from what I have previously seen on Steemit. As I would like to make a shameless pug for an awesome annual free event in my home town.

Every year in the order of 46.000 people take part in what is worlds largest multi day marching event, the Nijmeegse Vierdaagse. While the marching participants walk up to 50 kilometers a day the city center of Nijmegen is transformed into the largest festival of the year! Offering almost anything imaginable from arts and food to music stages with international artists playing among others pop, rock, alternative, jazz or dance. Since 2009, the festival is the largest freely accessible event in the Netherlands. So if you happen to be in the Netherlands this week, it is absolutely something you should not forget to put on your road map.

In numbers

• Other the course of 7 days more than 1.500.000 people visit the event.
• More than 1.040 acts by, more than 4.500 artists.
• More than 1.250.000 liters beer, soda and wine served in 5.000.000 glasses.
• 240 additional temporary toilet facilities
• More than 4000 meters of fences and barriers
• 18.000 m2 of outdoor cafés with over 20.000 seats
• 200.000 kilograms of waste, all cleaned at the end by 315 collectors using 35 garbage trucks.
