THE FORGOTTEN DRAGON KNIGHT

Dear Journal,
Sesharrim and I woke up with a bang on the door, it was the owners of the Salted wings Tavern, and we were to leave the premises immediately. When I asked them both why, they simply said they needed to clean the room for the next customer for the day.
So Sesharrim and I got dressed, had our breakfast snack which happened to be apple crusted pie. It was warm and tasty with a sense of cinnamon in the pie. I could not believe that Sesharrim had made such a lovely meal.
We left the Salted Wing Tavern with goodbye and a smile and we both were amazed at what greeted us outside the Tavern.
Vulkhel Guard was busy with tall High elves in every direction. The sun was shining Bright and birds could be heard in all directions and even though this seemed like a city, the whole area was very natural and clean. The Trees were different shades of greens, pink and yellow and truly a wonder to see. We were almost lost in the moment before we realised we were in the way of the entrance to the Tavern.
As Sesharrim and I moved down the one step Sesharrim threw her hood over her black braided hair and started to walk in the direction of the gates of Vulkhel Guard. I gripped my sword and walked a faster pace to catch up with her. We both thought that we would have enough gold for a horse but it seemed we were horribly mistaken.
We approached the Horse Master, he was an older High elf who clearly looked after his horses, and He was busy speaking to one of the horses while feeding it when we drew his attention. He turned to great us with a smile.
I must admit, he seemed like a nice man but when we told him that we only had a few gold pieces he turned us down and told us to rather walk it to Skywatch.
The Horses in Vulkhel Guard would cost us at least 10 000 Gold pieces. Clearly an amount we did not have.
Sesharrim looked worried for a moment but then faced the gates and started to walk towards it, I asked her if she knew what to do but she gave no answer. As we approached the gates I admired the design of it, the golden gates with engraving that was clearly older than any elf in this city.
Once we walked through the gates and had a glance from the guards at the entrance we came across a line of carriages, it all had the banners of the Aldmeri Dominion and High Elf Guards were found by each carriage except the last one.
This carriage was packed with all sorts of weapons and armour and an anvil. The man standing near it was a huge towering man that even looked down on some of the High Elves. He was clearly the owner of the carriage and a blacksmith, he had the muscular body and forearms that showed he had worked the forge most of his life. He noticed us and turned to greet us.
“Good Morning Friends, I am Asheron, A Nord from up north and I happen to have fallen on hard times”
By good timing he explained that the guards he had hired to help with protecting the carriage had not shown up for the morning and had left with the advancement of payment he had given them the previous day.
Asheron then made an offer that would sound too good to be true, as he had no gold at that moment in time, but after delivering his orders he would pay us 8000 gold a piece as he urgently needed some form of guards to escort the carriage, especially when the carriage was a convoy for Queen Ayrenn that was set out to go to her Ancestor burial grounds.
We accepted this offer and immediately he smiled and told us to stand at each side of the carriage. Sesharrim and I took our places and we were ready to set off. Then Asheron approached us, and he gave Sesharrim a long Staff, one that was imbued with healing magic, he pointed to me and told her to support me if I needed healing.
He then walked over to me and gave me a shield, I had never used one of these in my life, or rather since twenty one days ago but when I equipped the shield I felt the strength and a familiar feeling as if my muscles knew a shield but not my mind.
I was grateful for the shield and thanked him and stood in my position. Sesharrim laughed in my direction and said she was truly excited to see where the carriages would take us.
Then a loud ram’s horn was blown and the Queen was taken to her Carriage, she looked at the convoy to judge the group and climbed in, she was a beautiful Queen, Blonde long hair, and deep blue eyes, she wore an armour that was clearly made for her, a blue armour with golden edges with the wings etched in it with precious stones imbedded in the chest and belt.
Asheron sitting on the carriage whistled a low tune and said;
“How I would love to inspect that armour, I have been told it has some powerful magic in them”
Sesharrim burst out with laughter and looked in a different direction to try and suppress her laughter as Asheron gave a sharp look.
The Convey then started to move and it was peaceful as we travelled for the first few hours, the forests were beautiful and colourful with trees high and mighty. The deer’s were spotted on more than one occasion and the sun beams pierced the forests canopy.
Streams of water could be heard and the lovely songs of birds in the distance.
Then the songs went silent, the afternoon breeze fell colder and the convoy stopped. I felt an unusual feeling that we were being watched and Asheron stood up on the carriage and said;
“We have company, Sesharrim come stand closer to caravan and Shaheira; ready your blade and shield.”
As I drew my blade, arrows came from all directions and clearly the convoy had been ambushed, The High Elves drew blades and focused on protecting the convoy. Asheron drew a huge War hammer and cried out loud as if taunting them to attack.
I stood waiting for the appearance of our enemies but I was greeted with three arrows that instinctively I blocked with my shield, in the moment I looked at my arm and was amazed at how fast I blocked all of them. Then a rush of cries from the forest was heard and Elves were seen rushing towards the convoy to attack us.
I had three attack me and I was able to block each hit from them, I retaliated with quick jabs from my blade and slashing to push them back, Asheron came from the side with his hammer and with two large swipes from the side he crushed them before they knew he was there.
As I looked behind myself, Sesharrim was attacked by one rogue-like elf, Sesharrim flicked her hand to draw a symbol in the air and conjured a boulder from smaller rocks that she flung in the attackers direction. The attacker was hit directly with the boulder and didn’t stand up again.
After moments that felt like minutes the attack had stopped, even though the Elves ran back into the woods they had managed to steal what they wanted. The Queen climbed out of the carriage only after the area was made secure and then spoke to her general. He nodded his head and called out to all Asheron.
We were all three summoned, the general, Elsermo had tasked us for retrieving the attunement crystal from the attackers and that a cave was known to be in the direction they ran in. The queen needed the attunement crystal to communicate with her ancestors in the grove.
The group we would be pursuing was a group known as the Veil, an organisation that was not happy with the Queen on the Dominion throne. Bus since we were the outsiders in this convoy we had very little choice in the matter.
We set out to the cave and found the Veil scouts in the distance, it was then that Asheron mentioned the idea to disguise ourselves and told Sesharrim to rather go back to the convoy to let them know what we were planning.
Asheron snuck up behind the scouts and knocked them out with the war hammer. I quickly ran to him and we both placed the armoured sigil of the veil on ourselves. The cave was nearby and by the sounds of it the Elves were cheering the downfall of Queen Ayrenn.
As we entered the cave the cheering stopped and all ten of the High Elves looked in our direction. Clearly the disguise was a good idea in theory but not in practice and a Nord and Redguard stood out like a sore thumb.
Swords were drawn and High elves charged at us again. I quickly drew my blade and shield and deflected attacks, and Asheron did what he did best, smashed and bashed the Elves that some were seen flying across the cave.
I got the adrenaline rush as the fight raged and stood back to back with Asheron but one High Elf lunged at Asheron and sapped him, Asheron fell to the ground unconscious and the fight had become a one versus one in the cave.
The Elf wore a smile on his face and blade ready to attack, he spoke;
Do you really think that a Nord and Redguard could best me, a High Elf with centuries of training?
I tried to study his movements but he walked as if he was almost floating just above the ground. I kept my guard up and waited for the attack.
He lunged at me, I tried to block but he was so fast, way faster than I was, he struck me with the flat of sword against my back and lower back legs as if toying with me. I knew that I could not win this fight on speed alone.
I lunged at the Elf and felt a sharp pain in my lower back as he pierced my armour. I was not in great pain but I knew that he had drawn blood from my lower back. I then attacked again with my shield to bash him and though I barely hit him I knew I had hurt him and in an unexpected way.
He growled at me, as if to say, “How dare you strike me!”
He then lunged at me again and hit me so hard that I fell on my back with him standing over me; I felt the horrible doom as I saw the blade pointing to my chest. Any moment I would be dead and no longer in this world but in Aetherius.
As I closed my eyes waiting for the strike to occur I felt a Burning sensation in my chest that began to burn so fiercely. I opened my eyes again to see if the blade had been plunged into my chest only to see a red like aura on my chest. It rushed to my left arm with only instinct I slashed at the Elf in pure desperation.
The Elf moved backwards and with widened eyes fell backwards with four claw marking that had cut right through his armour in smouldering heat. I looked at my arm; no sword was seen or held when I struck him.
For a moment I was not sure if I was the one that struck him. Asheron was in the cave but barely able to get up, I helped him sit up and he looked at me with a wondrous stare and said;
“How did you do that? You struck him with a claw made from fire. I know that your companion Sesharrim is a seer and has magic but this is a different type of magic”
I could not answer him and though he showed signs of pain around the back of his head he walked with me back to the convoy with the attunement crystal. When we got to the Convoy it was already close to night fall and the Queen decided to set up camp in the area. The Veil was no threat to us this night, as all of them in the cave passed on to Aetherius and were no longer in Tamriel.
Tonight I rest with more questions than answers and will speak to Sesharrim in the morning regarding these signs. I know now that something is inside me that was not active in the last twenty one days. I know that this feeling within my chest, even though unusual as I write this entry has always been within me.
I finish my entry this evening with one question in mind. What magic resides within me?
