I only consider myself an artist with words. When I try to make digital art, it's a frustrating trial and error process where I keep working at it until the thing I've made resembles what it was supposed to look like enough that I can ignore the parts of it that make it look like something else.
Oh, and be warned, the link to the first one is actually orphaned from the second one... you'll have to fish the link for the second one from the comments below the first post. Damn seven day edit windows!
Sounds like you're a perfectionist which is a true sign of an artist!
