in #fiction7 years ago

The prompt is 'bark'.

This is my first time entering a writing contest on steemit, so I would love any comments and feedback 😊

“OK Mr Evans?” The vet held the syringe.

He could not answer. There was a strange vibration in his throat. He felt his face would crack inwards along its weather beaten lines.

Actually what happened to the old dog? Was it a mercy killing?

Yes, I wondered if it was going to come across - hard in 50 words! The idea is that she is euthanised and this sets her ‘free’ to race again. Don’t know if it makes sense!

That’s is what I thought from reading it. The 50 word restriction is a real challenge. I find that I play with the words quite a bit to get it just right. It is not easy! 😊
