Prometeus Repented
Source
In its original state it looks like slime, blue and viscous. It' s much more than that; it reacts to light, modifies its molecular structure to adapt to the environment, is self-replicating, obeys my orders and its qualities make it the greatest technological revolution in humanity.
My idea, to combine artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, resulted in the miracle of the 21st century, the industry found infinite applications, for example, a tiny film on bearings avoids corrosion and friction, boosting efficiency and reducing maintenance costs to practically zero.
Spraying on textile fibers makes them capable of adapting their structure to increase or decrease their insulating capacity, exponentially increasing their physical resistance to abrasion, cutting or tearing. Thanks to the material, the textile industry created intelligent clothing that reacts by protecting its wearer against the environment and providing the wearer, in addition, with an adaptable garment to the most frivolous fashion.
But the most dramatic revolution came from the field of medicine and agro-industry. The cruelest diseases found their cure with nanoactive drugs and the plagues on crops were controlled. Pananoceam ended hunger and violent death, became the cornerstone of our civilization.
Governments study incorporating it into our DNA believing that we will be almost divine, invulnerable. But people forget what is essential, who we are and how we got here. It was thanks to our capacity to overcome, to solve problems and to survive; without threats, what will become of Humankind?
We will be child gods, immature, stagnant. We will lose our initiative, our courage. I have no alternative:
—Pananoceam, die.
This is the translation of a micro story written for the MicroCiFi256 contest organized by @trenz. In it, participants must write a terror story based on an assigned topic in a maximum of 256 words, this time the topic was "Blue and viscous". Unfortunately, translations from Spanish to English are impossible using the exact same number of words so that condition is not fulfilled here. Hope you enjoy it

@jCalero Very nice story and was wondering, did You win the writing contest for which this story was created ?
You are talented, please continue posting.
Thank you very much! This time I got the second place, it is a hard contest, really good writers participate and it is really hard to win, @trenz ´s contest is an institution in hispanic community and even some published writers participate! I have won one or two of these contest but not this time.
