I Defeated The Demon Lord And Now I'm A Shut In (Concept)
In a world full of unique magical abilities ranging from the mundane to the fantastical, the seven powers of sin are widely considered the most powerful abilities to have ever existed. Each skill only has one owner at a time and, in the wrong hands, immeasurable destruction can be wrought on the world.
Gluttony, the ability to take on the power of those you kill.
Pride, the ability to match your strength to any opponent you face.
Envy, the ability to seal the skills of anyone around you.
Lust, the ability to charm anyone you lock eyes with.
Greed, the ability to copy any skill you have seen.
Sloth, the ability to multiply your abilities in short bursts, but become irresistibly lethargic for a period of time afterwards.
Wrath, the ability to increase your strength at the cost of increasing rage.
Since the beginning of history the sinners, the holders of these powers, have held the titles of both heroes and demons. The fickle gods do not care about the quality of character held by those granted these blessings and so each individual uses their power as they wish.
Some ages have been ruled by tyrants who use their power to subjugate, unopposed by any peers.
Other ages have lived in peace and prosperity as the sinners protect the lands and promote peace.
On occasion an era will come without the sinners. If they simply do not exist during these times or all just choose simple lives without fame is unknown.
Darian stared blankly out the window, focusing on nothing in particular. “It was during the battle against Marla, the sinner of gluttony.” His voice was quiet and frail, as if the very act of speaking was more exhausting than running a marathon. “Benjamin, the sinner or wrath and my mentor, aimed to end her cruel quest for power. I was told to watch from afar; the battle was intense. Neither of us realized just how strong she had become. We had heard entire towns had been slaughtered by her army, but from what I could see she had likely done most of the heavy lifting.”
Darian took a set at his desk. His eyes fell to the floor. “Ben didn’t really have any choice. He mustered extraordinary power to slay Marla, but lost all sanity in the process. I sometimes wonder, with Marla being as sadistic as she was, if she had intended this result all along. Ben had removed her as a threat, but in the process had long passed the point of no return. He was now a far greater threat than she was.”
“I was afraid.” Darian admitted. “I didn’t have nearly the combat skill Ben had. I was a sinner, but Ben had already amassed such power that it felt hopeless. I could see it in his eyes though. Ben was lost and only a beast of destruction was left. If I didn’t take care of then and there he likely would have destroyed everything we had ever cared about.”
“So I took his example. I activated the ability of Sloth and unleashed a spell of such concentrated raw magical energy that he simply disappeared. The sight of the sun I had created to destroy him. The ringing in my ears as all else went silent. I don’t know if I will ever recover physically, but that day will haunt me for the rest of my life.”
