Buried (Second Teaser)
Jared was sat on the ground, back against the wall with his knees raised slightly. Across from him sat Rebecca, a short, blonde girl. Other than that, he didn't really know much about her. She was one of Lily's friends, and was her plus one for the camping trip. No one else really knew her, and she was pretty quiet for most of the night. He thought she was kinda weird, so he didn't plan on talking to her all night. However, ironically enough, he was stuck with her now since they'd woken up together in some strange room. They hadn't really said much, just sat there. He'd spent the time wondering where he was, and how they'd even got there.
He looked around the room again, switching on the flashlight on his phone to shine some light on the room to get another look. From what he could see, based on the tracks on the floor and the rotting wooden tables with papers and such, on them, it was definitely some kind of old, underground workplace, but how did they get there. Rebecca followed Jared's gaze, pausing for a moment before getting up.
"Wait a second." She mumbled. Jared raised a brow and got up as well.
"What is it?" He asked, shining his phone towards her as she approached one of the tables.
“I think I know where we are." Jared walked over and stood beside Rebecca as she tried to read one of the old documents on the dusty table.
"Yeah, I do." Rebecca looked up at Jared, who was significantly taller, and continued.
"This is that old mineshaft outside of town. Ya know, the one that collapsed years ago?" Jared looked down at the papers before looking back at Rebecca.
“How do you know?" He asked with a puzzled look. Rebecca pointed to the small printed logo on the paper she was looking at.
“This symbol, it belongs to that old company that owned the place. My Grandpa used to work here before it collapsed. He was one of the few that made it out, he never stopped talking about it. A lotta people died down here."
Jared took a moment to glance around before nodding.
“How delightful." He mumbled before looking back to Rebecca as she put the paper down.
“Okay, so how does that help us at all? We still don't know why we're down here or how we got here." Jared rambled on while Rebecca calmly took out her phone, unlocking it as she turned away from Jared.
"What are you doing?" He asked, raising a brow.
"From what I remember, it was the South side that collapsed. So..." She held up her phone, showing a compass on her screen which was pointing South.
"We have to head that way." Jared pointed his phone towards a tunnel that headed South and Rebecca put away her phone.
"You have a compass app?" Jared asked with a small laugh as Rebecca raised a brow and started walking.
"You don't?" She asked simply, a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. Jared just shrugged and followed after Rebecca as the began to head down the tunnel, and for the first time in the last hour, Jared was feeling a little grateful to have Rebecca around.
