Abby's journey to find peace: Part 1

 

It was a cold winters morning and the sun just made its appearance. Abby couldn't sleep last night her mind were to busy and she keeps on dreaming this one dream over and over again. Her alarm went off about 20 min earlier but she just couldn't get up. Maybe she could think of something just to stay in bed today. 

Abby has fallen asleep again and started dreaming again. She dreamed of her childhood, of mom and dad and the good old days. How mom will come and jump on the bed in the mornings to wake her up and just kissed her all over her face. O how they would giggle together and make up stories of why she needed to face the day. She dreamed of the one day mom told her that something special is planned for that day .... it was her 13th birthday. Mom planned a surprise party for her. When she came home, the back yard were full of colored balloons, ribbons and lights. Her friends were waiting for her. They had so much fun running around, dancing and just giggling about everything. What a special day that was. 

She jumped up when her phone rang. Abby realized she had fallen asleep again and looked on the clock she almost overslept. When she took her phone she saw that it was mom. She smiled. 

" Good morning mom, this is a surprise." Abby said.

" Good morning my child, how are you?"

" Good mom and you? I just woke up must have fallen asleep again" Abby replied with a grin on her face. She wondered why mom would phone her so early, she's never up this early. 

" Is everything okay mom?" 

" Yes everything is okay, O please tell me you didn't forget?" 

Mmm, what did I forget Abby thought to herself.  "What do you mean mom?"

" Its your 30th birthday today my love!" 

She heard her mom laughing on the other side of the phone. O goodness is that the reason why she wanted to stay in bed....she was getting old. She lost track of time and the days passed so quickly, she was so busy with stuff for the school that she couldn't stand still and think of anything than work.

"It seems like I did mom, I was to busy with work and with everything that's going on here that I lost track of the dates." 

" Why don't you come over tonight and we celebrate your birthday together, we both can do with a bit of excitement for once." 

"Thats sounds great mom I'll see you toninght: 

They both said their goodbyes and hanged up.  

Abby got out of bed and  started to get ready for work. She packed her lunch box for work and got her keys and set off for work. 

Her day was better than she could imagine. Her class decorated her classroom with a lot of balloons and ribbons...just like her 13th birthday. She couldn't help but think about that day again. This was so special. Each student gave her a small gift with a beautiful birthday wish. She couldn't believe that they would do something like this for her. 

When Abby came home she took off her shoes and sat down on the sofa. What a day, filled with kids laughter and joy. They really tried to made her day the best day ever. She can't remember when last did she had a good laugh... well she laughed like this before the accident. Abby felt the sadness filling her heart again. Nothing had been the same anymore since that day.  She tried to think of something else but good not get it out of her head.  Her eye caught the clock on the wall....It's almost time to go to her moms house she must get ready.

She got up took a shower and got dressed in her favorite dress. It was a white dress with soft pink flowers on it. This dress made her feel good and confident. She put on some makeup to get some color on her white face. When she was done she got her keys and left her house. She was excited to see mom again. 

She pulled up the driveway in front of moms house. Mom was waiting for her in the front door. Abby couldn't help herself but ran up to mom and hugged her. She was so glad to see her again....it's been awhile since they had time together. Maybe it's because of the great sadness that took over her heart and emotions that she didn't want to see people. But this felt good, moms loving, caring arms around her and that on her birthday. She felt like a child again, she closed her eyes and just enjoyed the moment. 

They both went into the house and mom said they must go to the back yard she has a surprise for her. And their mom has done it again: Balloons, fairy lights and all her dearest friends all together. Abby was so overwhelmed she couldn't help the tears running down her cheeks.

 She had the best 30th birthday she could ever hoped for. It was late and everyone has left for the night. It was only Abby and mom sitting in the garden that was filled with the fairy lights. They just sat there, smiling. Abby was so great full for mom she wouldn't be able to get this far if it wasn't for mom. 

"Abby, when last did you talk to someone about what had happened" Mom asked her after a long silence. Abby knew mom didn't want to upset her or spoil her evening, but she knew mom knew her better than anyone.

" I don't know mom maybe 3 months ago, I lost track. "

Maybe it was time to see someone again. She can't sleep anymore, she keeps on dreaming of that day. 

Mom came to sit with her and hold her tide. Abby just started crying until she fell into a deep sleep.
