It took father!!!

Father always took odd walks at odd times, mainly in the evenings though, the weather report the day before had spoken of hail but I knew it wouldn't bother father, he took a walk even when they said gang wars ravaged the streets, nothing stopped father's walks.

Today the rains came down washed away our footprints from these eroding roads, father had his coat on, motioned to door, before leaving he looked back at me and said "I'll be back, I won't be long now", I nodded my head in reply, he then walked out the door.

Not too long after he left, the drizzling stopped, I guessed it wasn't gonna hail anymore, within short seconds I was already on the front lawn, playing hopscotch with Jeremy, then it happened, so fast that shock left me bare, a single hail had struck Jeremy, I was too busy looking down to notice, my gaze rose to a smashed head and an estuary of blood and bone, then heaven stoned down on us all, clanking sounds accompanied by creams and wailing mothers filled the air, all I could think about was father, where had his odd walk taken him?, I absconded with Miss Cherry's pot that was on the front lawn, shielding my head I raced to water lily creek, he often ended his walks there, after bearing shock waves sent through my spine by the impact of the hail, I finally made it to the creek.

I saw father standing in the open, with no cover, just standing at the river bank gazing at the creek, then I called out to him " Father!!!" He looked back at me and smiled, then he shouted "This is how I want to go my boy", in an instant the biggest hail I had seen in my life came down, it struck Father so hard that I saw the whiteness of his skull and the fragility of his brain as it peeped out of a white crack and joined the river bank, at once it stopped hailing and for a moment nothing was falling from the sky, I cautiously took the pot off my head, I started walking towards fathers damaged corpse, gazing down at him with tearful eyes I wailed so loud that I believed even the heavens heard me and in reply the heavens gave me an answer, when my wailing ceased, it began to rain.
