Janet was escorted by a police van. When they got to her house, she took them in as they inspects the CCTV footage and they realized all her claims were true.
"we are very sorry for the inconveniences we have caused you." lola apologized.
"it is alright officer, you are only doing your Job, who am I to obstruct investigation. it is my civil obligation to assist your investigation." she replied.
"thanks a lot then, please dont forget to report to the station tomorrow by seven in the morning. We need to get to Gabriel. lola demanded
"sure, we need to find out who killed Stanley, I will do anything in my capacity to assist you guys in your findings." she replied
The police officers left her house, Janet fell lifeless on the ground crying because she has lost her only man, they were planning of getting married before the misunderstanding they had. She blamed herself for not been with him on the valentine night. she wept till she slept off.
A knock on the of your man, the man was dressing up as he rushed to the main entrance to know who is at the door.
"Janet." said Gabriel.
Gabriel is one of Stanley good friends, rather let me say child hood friends, they had a lot of things in common, he his an Estate surveyor and a business annalist. He his very successful in his career and would do anything to remain at the top. He is dark and about five feet tall, he has an athletic body, very handsome with a very funny smile.
"Good morning Gabriel." Janet replied in a dull tone
"What is wrong with you and who are this people you? You gave me an unexpected visit." He asked
"Good morning Mr Gabriel, I am inspector Lola from the homicide department of the Nigerian Police force." she said
"Good morning officer, please what can I do to help? He asked
"When last have you heard from your friend Stanley?" she asked
"Oh stanley, I hope there is no problem?" He asked
"Noting serious but you can just start by answering our question." she replied
"Alright, we are supposed to be meeting today but I have been trying his number for two days now and it not reachable. Stanley is a very busy man and i saw him last three days before valentine." He replied
"uhmmm, alright... we are so sad to inform you that on February 15th of this month, Mr Stanley was tortured to death by an unknown person." she said
"(lost balance) Oh my goodness, Stanley is not dead, there must be a mix up somewhere, nothing is wrong... Janet if this is just a prank it is better you stop it right now at this moment." he said
"I am sorry to inform you Mr. Gabriel, this is reality, in our course of investigation we discovered that he had a misunderstanding with his EX- girlfriend before his death, the person by the identity Amaka, we need to find her location and you are the only source to this." She said
"(crying) Amaka finally got Stanley Killed, she will definitely pay for this." he replied
"secondly, we would like to ask you few questions which would be of help to our investigation." she said
"There is no problem, I am willing to cooperate, can I just get dressed and we can be on the way?" He asked
"No problem, I would request you make this as fast as possible, we are running out of time." she replied.
"Azibuike Amaka, you are from Abia State, finished from Federal government girls college in Abia State. You were rusticated from school for the allegation of been suspected cultist. You left Abia State to Lagos after your clash with your parents, you have been a big time prostitute....
"(she cuts in) I beg your pardon officer, what right do you have to call me a prostitute, you brought me here forcefully, i never complained despite the fact that it is against my civil right to be detained for hours without knowing my offence. I will sue the Police for this." she said
"I think you would be needing a lawyer for this, I bet you cant afford one." replied Lola
"Hey listen to me inspector, I wont stand here and watch you insult me, what is the reason behind my detention? If you cant tell me, I wont say anything again. Remember I have the right to remain quite until I get my self a lawyer." she replied
"(smiling) Bravo, oh less I forgot, What is your relationship with Stanley?" Lola Asked
"Oh... I see, that bastard told you to arrest me... You see what corruption is doing in our country... Arresting the poor for no offence for the rich, I see... you are one of his new girlfriend right, I bet it with you, he would dump you very soon." she replied
"Hey watch your tongue young lady, be careful of what you say here. I am asking you for the Last time, What is your relationship with Stanley?" She asked
"We had a relationship in the past, we met in a club and since then we started our relationship, he promised to marry me and because of the excuse of his career, I had series of abortion for him since he was not ready for marriage yet. I did not feel bad for using me, he could have slept with me anytime he wanted since that is what I do? Why would he lie to me, that was the most painful part until the last abortion I had and I got my womb destroyed. Stanley dumped me three days after this and I swear that I was going to kill him when I have the chance. I guess he must have gotten me arrested over treat to life." She replied
"No, you actually killed him three days ago." replied lola
"What (shocked) excuse me, what are you saying? You mean Stanley is dead? She asked
"Lady, it is better you stop pretending, did you really kill Stanley because he refused to marry you?"
"Inspector, I did not kill him, I cant hurt a fly.... I am just a lady trying to survive the tide of life, I dont have the courage to kill." she pleaded
"It is better you tell me the truth and i know how I can help you, look I know how it feels for a guy to just useless you and dump you, it worth taking such a man's life, just tell me the truth and I will help you out." said lola
"(crying) Inspector, I did not kill him, he his an animal, he has a lot of enemies maybe one of them killed him and framed him. I only said what I said then out of bitterness against him, Please believe me. She pleaded.
"You dont want me to help you Amaka, if you continue like this I dont know how to help you than to force the truth out from you and I bet you would not like that." lola replied
"(crying) even if you ask me from now till tomorrow, I wont tell you anything else apart from this, I did not kill Stanley. She said
"Amaka, you are the Prime suspect for the death of Mr Stanley, you shall remain in detention till any other clue is found, you have the right to a lawyer if you can contact one and concerning a bail just forget it about it for now." She replied as she left the interrogation room.
"(crying) Inspector please dont go, somebody is setting me up... please believe me." She pleaded.
