Joe whispered, and all three of them landed on Dad. They hit square on.
“Huh? What’s the matter with you guys? Do you think I’m a jungle gym that you would jump on me while I’m sleeping? I also thought for sure that this fifteen-year-old would know better than that!” Then Dad saw Mom laughing, “Did you seriously let them do that to me?!”
“I can’t carry you to bed! Besides, you fell asleep during a race!” said Mom.
Dad gasped. “Who won?”
“I did!” said Emily.
“Good job! Where’s Moses?” asked Dad.
“In bed. He fell asleep, so Mom carried him up.” Emily explained.
“I’m sure you didn’t jump on him, did you?” said Dad.
“No, we didn’t.” said Allie.
“What, you’re videoing me?! Man, you guys are ornery!” for there was the camera!
Allie laughed, “I guess we can be!”
“Okay, monkeys, it’s half past eleven, and we probably need to get some rest before we go to the Garfield’s house tomorrow. Don’t store up enough energy to be crazy again! Good night!” said Dad.
Joe, Emily, and Allison laughed, “Good night!”
“We’ll see what we do to Dad tomorrow!” said Mom.
So they all went upstairs to bed full of happiness, and giggling about all the fun…

The next day, they went to the Garfield’s house. Moses had learned about the end of the cookie race, and wished he had been there to participate.
They got to the Garfield’s and Moses knocked on the door.
“Hi Martinelle’s! How have you been?” asked Mrs. Garfield.
“Good, but busy.” said Mom.
“Same with us.” said Mrs. Garfield.
“I knocked!” said Moses, he was really excited, as always.
“That’s exciting! How are you, Moses?” asked Mrs. Garfield of him.
“Good.” said Moses.
“Well, come on in! Make yourself at home!” she said as Hailey appeared with the twins, Adam and Eve.
“So where are the rest of the kids?” asked Emily of Hailey.
“James and David are probably outside playing Hop Scotch, and as for Audrey, I am not sure where she is. She might be with the boys, and she might be somewhere else.” said Hailey.
Audrey was nine, David was six, and the twins were three.
Just then the two girls saw James, David, and Audrey drawing on the tennis court.
James saw the girls coming outside, “Oh, you’re here! Hi, Emily! How are you?” said James.
“I’m good, how about you?” asked Emily, walking down to join them.
“James and I were drawing out four square. Want to play?” asked David.
“Sure!” said Emily, “Come along, Allie!” and Allie joined them.
The game went on until they could here Mr. Garfield calling out to them, “Lunchtime! Come and eat!”
They raced in, very hungry.
Mrs. Garfield had made bread for some sandwiches yesterday, and so they had tomato sandwiches.
When everybody was done eating, Mrs. Garfield said, “Mr. Martinelle, I hope you enjoy your surprise!” and with that she brought out a huge, delicious cocoa cream pie.
“Cocoa cream pie! My favorite!” said Dad, “Thanks, Mrs. Garfield!”
After lunch, the kids explored a cave at Secret Slope valley, played another game of four-square, this time with Joe and Josh (Hailey’s older brother who was sixteen) and played volleyball, which resulted in Joe slipping in the mud. He had to go home and take a shower, then came back to find that the kids had all hidden from him, and when he opened the garage door, they pounced on him. They all had a very good day.
The Martinelle’s went home at about 4:00 pm, and for the rest of the night hung out, and went to bed.
