Harmony Hippo's Adventures--by Loucinda Saputo
Story 1....
In the warm jungle of the Congo lives a happy hippo name Harmony. She lives with her Mom, Dad, and little sister Gracie. Harmony loves helping the other animals in the jungle. Her Dad helped her build a hut where she can keep all of her supplies and tools that she can use to help others. She has four friends who work with her at the Helping Hut. Gina is a giraffe, Marcy is a monkey, Alex is an anteater and Callie is a cheetah.
On this warm, breezy morning, the jungle is bustling with activity when a call comes in that a little tortoise has gotten lost on his way to school. Callie tells him to stay where he is and Harmony and her crew hurry to where the little tortoise is waiting. When they get to him he is very scared.
"Hi, I'm Harmony and these are my friends. We're here to help you" says Harmony.
"My name Tomas," says the little tortoise.
"Ok, what is the name of your school Tomas?" Asks Marcy.
"I go to Jungle Academy," says Tomas.
"It looks like you went down the right road for your school but you just turned left instead of right," Says Gina.
"Come on Tomas we'll walk with you to school." says Harmony
Tomas is so relieved to have help getting to school. Today is his second day and he loves his new friends.
When they get to Jungle Academy Harmony lets the teacher know what happened.
"Oh my goodness, Tomas I'm so glad you got to school safely. You did a good job calling for help. I will let your parents know you're here right away. They've been worried about you," says Miss Ophelia.
"Hi Tomas," says Baron, a baboon in his class. "I live right by you and I would be happy to walk to school with you every day. It'll be fun to have someone to chat with," exclaims Baron excitedly.
"Thanks Baron, I would like that very much," says Tomas with a big smile.
"Your parents are very relieved that you're safe Tomas," says Miss Ophelia.
"We're going to walk together every day Miss Ophelia," says Baron even more excitedly.
"Wonderful idea boys. I think we will have a chat about the buddy system today during circle time. It's important to stay safe." says Miss Ophelia
"Thank you so much for helping Tomas," Miss Ophelia says to Harmony, Marcy, and Gina.
"We're happy to help. We're going to get back to the Helping Hut. If you need any more assistance from us just call us anytime," says Harmony.
Harmony and her crew walk back to the Helping Hut. "Awesome rescue today friends," says Harmony.
"I Love helping others," exclaims Gina.
"Let's have an icepop to celebrate and cool off," suggests Harmony.
"Yum!", they all exclaim.
