Fiction: Surviving Hope.
Mummy, mummy look it's a full moon Rita said to her mom. Smiling her mom replied her "oh Rita it's called the Sturgeon Moon. It is been said that, the August full moon got it's name because some years ago great number of this huge freshwater fish could be found in rivers and lakes at that period, so it has something to do with the fishes and water". Then she excused herself and went outside the pavement to catch a full glance at the moon.
Mirabel sat out. While the moon brought her to a state of reminiscing, the wind rippled through her clothes.
She enveloped herself with her hands as she tired to fought back the tears that kept building inside of her. The August moon brought back the memories of her late husband, Mr Abel. It was on this particular day, seven years ago he made love to her, near by the lake. He gave her hope none has ever given to her, promising to be by her until the sounds of time, but it's all an empty promises now, leaving her behind and their daughter without a father's love.
She wished she hadn't insisted, she wished she hadn't protested.
It all started after she got pregnant for Abel. Bringing her home, his family members didn't give into the idea of him marrying from another state, but he still insisted and got married to Mirabel not minding the circumstances around it.
Things went find between the two of them and their only daughter. The family was a perfect illustration of peace, love and harmony.
As Rita turned five, her dad wanted taking her to his own village that period since she was on holiday, but her mum protested and insisted they went to her own village since Rita had been to his ever since, even when she wasn't much adored due to her gender, she was a female.
After the birth of Rita, they tired giving birth to another child but it seems fruitless. Mr Abel would avoid sugar, took bitter liquids more so low sperm count won't be one of the issues. He would have sex with her up to three times a night to see if his wife could conceive. Mrs Mirabel on the other hand would take pills and tried to avoid anything that would make her not to conceive but all to no avail.
They kept hoping and praying that a miracle would happen.
During early May, Mrs Mirabel woke up to the feeling of been nauseatic for three days. Abel noticed a change of behaviour in his wife character and he took her to the hospital were the doctor told them Mirabel was two months pregnant. There joy knew no bound that Abel informed his family at the village and assured them it was going to be a boy as they were so anxious to have a male child.
Five months later, they planned on travelling to Abel's village but that was when she insisted that they should travel to her own village rather, and Abel had to abort the plan of travelling to his own village. He callec his family member which of course they weren't happy of Mirabel decision, Abel supporting her and nothing they could do about it.
On that faithful day, they packed their items and bags into the car boot, arranged the bags and other items, then off the road they went.
One hour into the journey while on the road, Mr Abel was driving along the highway while a luxurious car over took them, he lost control and in the next minute everything went blackout.
Mrs Mirabel waking up wondered were she was, were was her child and her husband, and the only last memory she could remember was, they were travelling on the highway to her own village.
After two days of intensive care, the news was broken to her that her husband wasn't able to survive the accident because his head had some serious internal head bleeding, Hemorrhage and it wasn't just a Hemorrhage but an intracerebral hemorrhage and as a result of that, he couldn't survive it, but your daughter survived the accident, the doctor said.
Like a cotton wool dipped into a liquid substance, absorbing the substance. Mirabel absorbed the news that way. She couldn't take all the informations at once and while trying to, she fainted.
After a month of intensive care of Mirabel and her daughter, The doctor discharged, on a sunny Sunday.
Monday, Mirabel went to the bank she and her husband had a joint account only to receive the shocking news of her life when she got there.
To be continued.
