**HISTORY OF THE FIFA WORLD CUP**

Hello steemit football fans, as we're 50 days or less to to official opening of the FIFA world in Russia 2018, we want to look back into how the tournament came to existence:
In 1930, FIFA chose Uruguay 🇺🇾 to host the inaugural tournament that was contested by a 13 countries predominantly south American nations due to difficulties of other countries reach there, the decision was because Uruguay had successfully hosted the Olympics on 1928,

Uruguay managed to lift the championship as hosts of the first tournament.
In 1931, FIFA awarded Italy rights to host the next tournament in Europe that was to take place four later in 1934, this made Italy prepare early and the also managed to to win the title as hosts

In 1938, the hosting rights were retained in Europe but this time in Paris France 🇫🇷, a total of 15 nations participating, 18 matches played and again Italy 🇮🇹 came out champions
Due to political turmoil across Europe from 1939 to late 40s, the tournament was unable to carry on, world wars ruined the momentum.
The journey was reinforced in 1950 in South American Brazil, a total of 13 teams turned up with the first match in the iconic Maracana stadium 🏟 in Rio de Janeiro,

a historic attendance of 199000 plus was recorded, no match was or will ever equal that record in the recent history, it has since then been renovated 3 times bringing its capacity now to 79000 fans!!
Brazil 🇧🇷 won the tournament as hosts and of course they were favorites .....
