Petey is a homeless man I share a cup of coffee, conversation, and some spare change with everyday. Last week he was sick and his spot has been vacant for three days. I've waited for my invisible friend to come back, while sitting in our spot, begging for spare change.

Very clever piece.. I like how the central character turns out to be the homeless person, when initially they seemed like a passerby... It must be truly awful to be homeless and I guess often hopeless too..

Thanks @ablaze! I always lean towards there being some sort of twist in my stories.

Well done, @foragingquietude! Especially if this is your first 50-word story. I really had to think about it for a moment, and then the meaning hit me. It's a clever story.

Thanks @jayna. I'm really enjoying these micro fiction challenges. I think it's just what I needed to get back in the mindset of writing after taking the past few months off.

It is seen that despite its limitations Petey is an important and communicative man, the nostalgia of a lost friendship remains in the air. Receive my affections @foragingquietude
