Flower Reviewed
Interested in seeing Flower? Honestly, I'm not sure whether or not I would recommend it. While definitely an experience, I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about the movie as a whole. The primary feeling, the one that still resonates with me two days after I've seen it is, "Wow, that was weird." I went into the theater with no expectations, and I was still surprised. Featuring Zoey Deutch as Erica, the main character, I saw wonderful and believable performances from every actor involved. I believed in the characters, they were real people to me. The point where Flower went, not necessarily wrong, but weird, was the storyline. The movie starts off with Erica giving a cop a blowjob and then blackmailing him for money. This is one of the less crazy things in the movie. In my experience, you have a couple different types of films, you've got your typical blockbuster, which is violence with weak plot and some humor. You've got movies that wander aimlessly, but they have a message to tell. You've got movies with no plot. You've got movies with a great story that leaves you invested and walking around in a daze of wonder as you leave the theater. Flower was an aimless wanderer with no plot to speak of.
6.37/10, aimless wandering movie with no plot.
SPOILERS
The movies plot goes from blackmail, to failed incest, to attempted blackmail, to drugging someone, to manslaughter, and finally to successful incest. It was a real trip.
